holds puzzles with parts!?
I bought this awhile ago since I've been looking for something to keep partially done puzzles together. We are at camp and I roll this out and it's got parts to it! Like, it needs to be a mat and a strap to keep it all together, but you get this inflatable tube to put in the middle before you roll, and then you get a little pump so that you can fill the tube with air. And then a little needle falls out, it's needed to put on the pump to fill the tube. Why would someone hiking want so many parts just to roll up a puzzle? Why can't you just blow into the tube to fill it with air? This is so very overthought and full of parts. I gave two stars because it holds the puzzle together, but the rest is nonsense.
Does the job
Bought this with the intent to use at home. Realized it is handy for car camping (or access to a regular picnic table), so I took it along when we went on an RV trip this last weekend. Those with RVs might find the mat a little large for a standard/small dinette table. But it needs to be large enough to accommodate 1,500 piece puzzles. So it’s a small trade off for being able to roll it up in preparation for bedtime. Mat seems a bit big for backpack camping. Also a bit fiddly for that level of camping when using the air pump. Unlike the first reviewer, I took the time to go through the instructions and pieces to make sure I had all the pieces and to familiarize myself with how it works BEFORE the trip. Can’t blame the product for one’s lack of preparation. One drawback is that it can be difficult to move small groups of assembled pieces due to the felt surface, but then again that is a feature that helps the puzzle survive the roll up and transport phases. Would recommend using a piece of paper to help move those assembled bits. The printed lines helped a lot with laying out the corners and edges. I do recommend to the maker that they should make the air valve easier to use with lung power, so that there’s one less piece to lose or drop or pack. It did what it promised, the learning curve was short, and am happy with it. Especially at the price I bought it at.
