I wear these for casual work while teaching. I have purchased numerous items for outdoor sports and recreational activities from North Face. They are always of great quality. These pants however, I wore them like 7-times and washed three times and on the bottom the fabric has little pull marks like from scraping. Not sure where or how I am not hiking in these but teaching. I have other North Face pants that was 15-years old that North Face has repaired the zipper and they look like new. This pair after washing a few times looks worn. No reason for this. Is North Face becoming just a popular "brand" rather than a quality outdoor supply?
Have bought these hiking pants in the past and loved them. Old pair was just too worn out to keep so I ordered the latest version. I noticed immediately they were a bit baggier but not a problem. The biggest issue is with the pant leg size at the bottom/at the shoe. As these are hiking pants you want them to cover your shoe top easily so burrs and stuff stay iut if your shoes when hiking in brush/grass. These are so tight at the bottom they have a hard time staying over your shoes a bit and end up bunched up on top of your shoe, allowing stuff to get in and the rest is history. Making the opening at the bottom a bit bigger would be a great addition/help.
I love Northface convertible pants I have had lots of them over the years. It seems like each generation is made with cheaper materials. I just got a new pair and noticed the signature north face logo on the left leg was not a patch bit a cheap rubbery stamp that will prob wear off making it look horriable. Not only does it match the pants but it is black on a tan pair of pants. Damm north face. Other then that they seem to not be made as well as they should be back. Hopefully you fix these problems with these pants ASAP
I'm a 50-year-old who has been nothing but a t-shirt and jeans type of guy all of his life ...until I tried these on. They are comfortable and they look GREAT. I know they won't be making these pants forever, but I liked them so much, that I purchased nearly $1000 worth of these pants to last me for many years to come. The only problem I have is that although they just barely touch the floor when standing up, they become a bit more of a flood pants when I sit down, compared to my jeans ...especially in my car for some reason. I hate it when pant legs ride up on me, but it's not so bad that I can't live with it.
I really liked this pants. I did an overnight hike and camp. On the way up to the campsite, we got rained on. I put my iPhone in the front pocket to test the water resistance and not a drop got on my phone. When I got to the campsite the sun showed it's face and my shorts dried in minutes. At night when the temperature dropped I put on the pants legs. The zipper is colour coded with the shorts zipper (brilliant design) which helped tremendously. throughout the night because my pants legs were long the zipper portion came off because of the excessive stepping on the pants legs. In the morning, I removed the pants legs and hiked back down. I love the product and would recommend it.
I bought these for fishing out of my kayak so that I don't get soaked. They fit fine, light fabric, the pockets are nice and the zipper on the legs is good too. But the sole reason I went with these is they are advertised as water repellant...I got splashed by a fish and a small amount of water wound up on the seat, a minute later I was wet. I also knelt on the deck for about 5-10 seconds of my kayak, which had a very small amount of water on it, to get some gear out of my front hatch and when I sat back down my knee was soaked and I could feel water dripping down my leg. These might be better fitted for hiking in nice weather but they won't cut it when any kind of water is involved.
I use these camping and fishing in the sierra Nevadas and they are perfect. Dry super quick, very versatile in the hot to cold temperatures, as you could take off the legs and you could wear long johns underneath to be super warm. Surprisingly durable as i could slide down rocks on the river and it didnt hurt the butt of my pants. I highly reccomend these to people looking for a ln awesome fishing or camping pant.
This is the second pair of North Face pants I bought. The first pair I bought when I was working in Colorado Springs 9 years ago. I wore them all the time there and I still wear them now. I had to buy a new pair as my old pair was getting worn out. I fly quite frequently (about 2-3 x's a month). The pants are just so comfortable and with the cargo and additional pockets it makes it easy for air travel. I would not have bought another pair of these pants but my first pair were getting in such bad shape my wife basically threatened me and told me to buy another pair of pants for travel.
I have taken this pant all over the world. I have summited Kilimanjaro, trekked the Everest base camp and hiked all over New Zealand with them. I wore them nearly everyday. They are conferable and durable. Great pants.
I am very pleased with the quality, look and feel of these pants. I have an older version and they are my go-to pants for rainy and windy days during winter months, as well as my favorite for summer evenings paired with sandals. My only complaint is that The North Face, like most other companies, has continued down the "skinny jeans" road and decreased the cuff diameter at least an inch compared to my older pair. I prefer my pants to sit over my shoes. Even with the leg zips, the narrow ankle look is not appealing. Overall, I still love the Paramount style and quality.
