Bought a pair of Paramount Convertible Pants 6 years ago and they were and still are wonderful. Had a need for a second pair and North Face indicated that these were the "updated" version. The pants fit and will work for an urban hip-hop hiker well. They were NOT made for the mountains. Belt won't stay cinched. Legs snag on every little thing. Don't even try to take of the lower leg part if your boots are muddy. You won't be able to. The old style had a zippered sleeve that opened up making this SO easy. North Face, appears to have decided that they'd rather concentrate on the hip-hop crowd and have mostly abandoned the Outdoors Adventurer crowd.
Used this on over a dozen trips now and here are my overall thoughts: Overall fit -- 5 stars Fabric & construction -- 5 stars Built in belt -- 0 stars The belt is held in place by the friction the fabric being doubled over a metal buckle. It is constantly coming loose and needing to get re-tightened. Not easy to do when it is under the waist of my backpack. If I can find an after market replacement belt narrow enough to fit these pants, they will be one of my favorite pair. Until then, they are the pair that I grab when everything else is dirty.
Comfy, light and trendy. I got some olive oil on them the first day!!! Stained for life. Spots. I dunno if the material is strange from it being plastic? But they stained the first day and won't come clean :(
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first time I tried to unbutton the pair of pants, the button broke off and fell off the pants. That's just never happened to me. I didn't even take the tags off. Makes me question the durability
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the pants, but the water repellency has not done well, tested it out with water, found few missing spots
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't like the elastic things at the bottom.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great pants both for hiking and casual wear. Living in AZ, I struggle to find lightweight gear that doesn't scrimp on features - these pants deliver! The zipped pockets are a lifesaver and although I used to laugh at the notion of pant legs that zip off, I actually use that feature all the time as mornings are a solid 20-30 degrees cooler here. The belt clip comes in handy for my phone cord and, in a pinch, my water bottle when I need my hands free for my camera. My only complaint is that the integrated belt is too smooth and doesn't stay tightened.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am always cold. Love to have the option for having/not having the pant legs in the summer. I wear them casually for like going out for dinner with the family or even at work (we have a very casual office environment). I love the convertible aspect! The zippers for the legs are well done with the color coating to make sure they are matched up correctly. Mat'ls are nice and durable. I have both the black & tan/cream colors. There are few issues I have with the pants. 1) The belt is a nice thought, but would like to remove that and put in loops for a real belt. I need a real belt, and the one included in the pants is not ideal. 2) I would like to see a little more formal version of this pant. I have other TNF pants that have a more formal appearance. A combo of these with the convertible option would be ideal for me.
I've been thoroughly impressed with the quality of the Men's Paramount Pro Convertible Pants from The North Face. The craftsmanship is excellent, and they've proven to be a reliable choice for outdoor excursions. Their functionality is outstanding, making them versatile and practical for a variety of activities. It's clear these pants are built to last, and I will absolutely be purchasing another pair in the future. Highly recommend!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are comfortable and durable. Im 5'8" and 175 lbs meaning i got some beefy legs but a medium still fits well. When riding my bike a took a pretty hard fall on asphalt knee first and the pants took the beating like a champ with no tares. I personally would have liked belt loops more than the integrated belt but its not the end of the world. Overall great pants for hiking and any other adventures (or falling off your bike).
