[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This backpack is really lightweight and a great size for half day hikes and general day use. It wears comfortably and the back is padded and breathable. It fits my frame well as a 5’3” female. I am pretty picky with the weight of empty packs and this is truly lightweight. It feels like nothing when worn. I love that the inside of the main compartment has a label with some first aid information. It is basic information, but very nice to have if the situation ever arises. There is a small top compartment that can hold keys, valuables, and other small items that you need easy access to. The outer pocket is spacious and feels secure. The pocket is formed by the dark and light colorblocked panels where the logo is. The two panels are connected and you just slip your items inside. It is easy to put stuff in it, but I do wish to be able to open it up fully with a buckle or through other means. If I could change one thing, it would be to have taller water bottle side pockets. I have a 24oz bottle that is around 10 inches tall. While it technically fits, it does not feel secure enough. The pockets are better suited for shorter water bottles.
I've had this pack for two years at this point -- it's held up well both to day hiking as well as daily use as my commute bag for work. It can fit a surprising amount - it doesn't have interior pockets for organization, so you won't love this if that's how you stay organized, but it works for me. It's light and comfortable, but hasn't torn or frayed despite the fabric not being super thick.
I use this primarily for multipitch climbing and like that the hip strap is removable to make room for my harness. It’s a nice upgrade over some of the more minimal bags at this size. I wish the front outside pouch opened up completely at the top but you can still fit a guidebook easily. I added a bungee cord to gain some more utility and strap shoes or a jacket to the outside. I’m 5’7” tall since other reviewers mentioned their height.
Purchased at REI sale 6 weeks ago. Just got pack from a month in Europe. I wore it every day. Absolutely perfect for day use. I didn’t even know it was there most of the time. Great for items needed during flight. Computer, iPad, Iight weight blanket and jacket for my wife. Room to spare. Compression straps work great and keep the size down. Put maps, tickets in front sleeve for fast access. Small top compartment held suntan lotion, chap stick etc. loaded it up w small gifts all the time. Bottle of wine works great. The lite rests perfectly on my back. Double and top zipper would be very hard to open from rear. Great design, empty it layers flat to about an inch and fit easily between 2 sections of our carry on suit cases..
This pack is really well thought out. It holds my 3L bladder well, back ventilates nicely, it’s super lightweight, and the open pockets on the front hold my trecking poles when I don’t need them. Sternum strap adjusts very high to very low.
Sadly I will have to return this which is a shame because I love the colors, lightweight design & simplicity of the pack. The issue I have is with the sternum strap- even with it set as high as it will go, it smashes my boobs down when fastened. I am 5’4”
Great backpack overall, though a couple of things worth noting: First, water bottles tend to fall out easily from the side pockets, since they loosen up and are not tall. Second, the bladder pocket narrows at the bottom, such that a laptop in a sleeve might not sit well in there. Both of these are important if you're thinking of using this backpack as a daily pack for commuting, which I wanted to do. Other than this, it is great.
Love this backpack, just returned from a two week trek to Scotland. This was perfect for carry on and for hiking around. It holds much more than you would think. I also have put my iPad pro in the compartment and it didn't make the pack too heavy.
Great pack, best day pack that I have tried. Smart design, super comfortable, and the perfect size (I'm a minimalist, so I travel light). Love the shale color! Wasn't sure about the outer/back pocket, but once I figured out how to best utilize it, I love it! Only a couple MINOR gripes: Wish eh back was a bit more breathable, but still better than my Camelbak. Wish the side mesh pockets were an inch or two taller for longer water bottles, but still works fine.
This backpack is feather light. I used it for both day hike and EU trip. The top pocket is convenient for small items storage. Two big elastic side pockets can hold big water bottles.
