Great light for backyard and car camping!

The short story: This is a great light when space isn't an issue. The good: I love the form factor, it looks like one of the old Coleman kerosene lamps in the best way. The light itself is is nice and bright, with 3 brightness settingss (low, medium, and high) and one setting flashing on and off. It has a wide base that keeps it sturdy, and I also really appreciated the fact that the handle is also a carabiner, that can be used to hang the light off of a line. Finally, there is a compartment in the bottom for the charge cable or other things you may want to stash away which is absolutely fantastic; I don't want to have to hunt around for a cable whenever the light needs charging. It also can function as a battery pack to charge a cellphone or other device when needed. The less good: There are 2 things that I was less fond of, but neither were really enough to knock off more than 1 star total bringing the rating down to 4/5. First, while I like the the charger is USB-C rather than micro-USB, it seems like it only works with a USB-A to USB-C cable, which is an issue that is common with lights. What this means from a practical perspective is that if you already have a USB-C to USB-C cable laying around, for a macbook or other laptop, that won't actually charge the light. It needs to be a USB-C cable that plugs into a USB-A charger. Second, I wish the carabiner loop that is built into the handle had a stronger hook (see photo), it slides open pretty easily though in practice it hasn't slipped open on it's own. Overall, I like this light quite a bit and would recommend it for car camping or other outdoor events. I received product for free in exchange for an honest review.

Great lantern

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so happy with the Coleman Classic Recharge 800L Lantern C002. It is a great size that makes it easy to pack and carry. It is lightweight which also makes carrying it comfortable and easy. This lantern gives off a lot of light. It has a knob you can turn for different levels of light. It has an easily accessible port for charging the lantern and also for phone charging. I love not having to deal with fuel or batteries. This is a great addition to camping gear or to emergency preparation. It lasts a relatively long time on a full charge.

Light it Up

This lantern is very bright and has 3 light levels plus a flashing option. On the low level, it lasts a very long time. It did take a few hours to charge completely. It used one dot of power to give my cell phone 25% battery life which would be enough in an emergency and still have light to spare. The bottom unscrews for a compartment to hold the charger cable or use as a secret stash spot which was a nice feature. The one cool thing I liked was the carabiner style clip on the handle, which makes it easy to hang. Great option for a rechargeable type lantern.

Awesome lamp for car camping or at home

I really love all of the features that this lamp provides. It's rechargeable, and you can charge other devices from it using the included USB cable. You can easily hang it using the included clip, which is nice because carrying this lamp can be a bit bulky. It throws light very well, and is perfect for car camping adventures. I use it when camping out of my Subie or when I'm living in my van. It's also great for working on projects around the house. The only knock I have is that it is quite large. Most of the time I found myself using my headlamp or cell phone light. When it's in the car it rolls around a lot, and I could see it rolling out of the car and breaking pretty easily. The best use I've had from this lamp is when it's hanging in my van garage or sitting on a table while camping.

Coleman Classic Rechargeable Lantern

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Coleman classic rechargeable lantern is perfect for outdoor camping or indoors when your lights go out because of a storm which mine has several times since I got this. The main feature I love about this is that it's rechargeable and not like a lantern that uses kerosene. This Coleman lantern has three settings.. high(5 hours), medium(15 hours) and low(45 hours) before recharging. I like the convenient handle it has and I like how it looks. I trust the name Coleman for a reliable product.

Updated on a classic

This reliable classic pays homage to the original design: The charging port is where the pump used to be. The light I remember from childhood camping trips is now a reliable green-energy alternative to battery operated lanterns. We're giving them to all our family this Christmas. For those who don't camp, it's an excellent backup in case of storms and power outages.

Long lasting charge

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I starting looking for some light sources with the spring and summer storm season ahead plus camping season. I found the Coleman Classic Rechargeable Lantern and it was just what I was looking for. It looks like my old fuel lamps. There are 3 settings which determines how often I have to recharge. Its lightweight and gives off a lot of bright light even when on the lowest setting the light is good. I charged my lantern overnight only but it only takes about 4-6 hours. I have used it a few times and the battery is still charged after using about 2 hours. I will recharge at least once every few months if we are not using it to keep it ready to go. Going to pick up another one soon.

Durable lantern

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This rechargeable lantern is perfect for our camping. We always love camping in spring and summer seasons and this is great to use. The battery lasted long hours of use. I charge it for good 6-8hours before using. I don’t find any problem at all. The four light setting is perfect as well. It’s amazing to see this small lantern but has wide range of light. The quality is great and very lightweight to carry. Highly recommended.

New twist on a classic

I remember using my parents' propane Coleman lantern twenty years ago. While sturdy and dependable, that style of lantern can be a big pain - getting the ignition to work, making sure to buy fuel, keeping it pumped and, the worst, being careful not to die of asphyxiation if trying to use it inside. This electric lantern is a satisfying replacement for those classic old kerosene models. It is quite bright, has sufficient battery life, and has all the features that one would want in lantern. The three brightness settings are useful. I'm especially happy that they put hinge on the handle so that the lantern can be hung. A d there are some charming, if gimmicky, quirks - like the fact that they placed the charging port in a fake "fuel nozzle," and that the charging cable can be stowed in the bottom of the "canister." That said, there are a few cons. The plastic feels a bit cheap. I wouldn't want to accidentally drop it on hard ground, and I wouldn't trust this lamp to be waterproof. Also, there is a "flash" setting, which makes the light flash at regular intervals. In morse code, this would be dot, dot, dot. I wish they had set it to a true SOS morse pattern, for emergencies. As it is, I don't think I would use the flash function unless I was trying to signal for help, but I am not sure whether another person would understand that was my intention. Overall, I would say this is a fine addition to a car camping or RV set up, or even just to have around the house to use in the backyard (or in case of a blackout). It's functional and it looks good, but it's not a rugged backcountry piece of equipment.
