Rain dance pants approved
I have yet to test these in a down pour but they definitely did the trick with a light rain on my trek through the Andes! Stayed perfectly dry and comfortable and I honestly think they are kind of cute on!
Great for hiking
The reviews left me skeptical but these rain pants fit perfect over a base layer for me. They are warm, don't swish, knock out the wind, easy to hike in, pack down tiny to fit in your pack. I'm 5-6, 150, athletic, wear a 4-6 in pants...the medium fits great. I could definitely fit them over my lined hiking pants. Just as a reminder, like all rain pants, they will make you sweat & upon stopping you will get cold.
not good…
I ordered both the M and L, and the first thing I noticed was that the waist size felt nearly the same, while being unable to adjust the size. There was a drawstring, but it was already maxed out on the size M, and the L waist felt tight already with the legs being too big. I’m 5’7 at ~158 lb and I usually wear M or L. Also, these aren’t breathable at all (I’ve tried other similar pants that were more breathable) and I felt moisture accumulating almost immediately. Felt really uncomfortable. The North Face pants I ordered instead were great!
Too short in the rise
The pants might be good for some, but for me, the rise is too short. That is the distance from the waist to the crotch.
Terrible product. REI should be ashamed.
REI should never have bought or should sell these rain pants. They ruin REI’s reputation. After reading other reviews, I ordered large (I am a medium) hoping they would be big enough to go over my pants. True to other reviews, the waist was tight and small (as if they were a small size), the crotch was short. I can sew, so I thought I could alter them but I tried and they are mediocre at best. DO NOT ORDER THESE, no matter what you do they are a waste of your money.
Lightweight and Waterproof!
Got these for a trip to Iceland. Medium size fits perfectly over regular pants. Hoping they live up to the waterproof feature! I’ll be testing them at the waterfalls. Some reviews mentioned that they are short in the crotch front; they are just lower in the front, but they still fit fine over other pants and are not tight or uncomfortable.
Nice pants but fit is not correct.
I was excited to have found a reasonably priced rain pant to wear when out with the dogs. However, these pants don't fit well. I'm pretty sure they are a men's size labeled for women. I bought a size large to fit over bulky pants but that won't happen. For a womens large they are too short in the rise and too small in the waist. I'll use them but only over jeans.
Check sizing :)
These run comically small, especially since they’re meant to be worn OVER your regular pants. I tried them on over leggings and dare not attempt to sit down. Immediately put them back in the packaging and returned. For reference, I ordered a XXL and have a 38” waist and 46” hip.
Seem great, fit is too small
The pants seem nice, but the fit ran tight. I wear size 10-12 pants, so ordered a size Large, per the size chart. They fit too smug to be active in, so I'm returning for a larger size.
Great for hiking and light duty.
Good fit, features for hiking. Nice fabric, not too noisy.
