Shoes were true to size (US10.5). Standard width but not as comfortable as similar sized Salomon or Kayland shoes I’ve had. Didn’t catch the double lace setup which doesn’t appear to offer any benefit with the adjustment that a single lace couldn’t offer (but is a bit tedious to lace/unlace). Good traction and they are waterproof. Feet stay warm/hot, they sweat, and the shoes do not breathe. Not sure if it’s related to the exterior finish material or the Gore-Tex. Have had other Gore-Tex shoes that didn’t do this. Have been using for general use in wet weather and occasional short hikes. Overall was not as impressed with them as I was hoping but in several weeks of owning haven’t had any real problems with them.
Have experience with their mountaineering boots...these shoes are built with the same quality and durability and comfort as their boots..A lot of companies could learn from Aku's standards...which are very high...kim
I purchased a pair of these directly from AKU. It took two weeks to get them (from Canada). Their service is excellent. I had to send my first pair back for a larger size. Absolutely no problem doing that. Out of the box (with the correct size) they feel just as comfortable as my older favorite shoes. I paid the exact same price buying from AKU as REI charges but it took one month+ to get them. So if you want the same quality shoe in one day versus 30+ days just go to your nearest REI of which my nearest REI store is 12.9 miles. 😅.
Great fit and comfort right out of the box. Initial 5 miles in wooded trails, riots, rocks, leaves - good traction and comfort. These feel a little narrower than most in the heel and mid/foot, which is good for me. Still good room in the toes. The dual lacing takes a little getting used to. I got over eager and really cinched them down. Easy adjustment and good to know it’s available if things get tricky. Light, not hot on an 80 degree day. Love them so far. Ordered my regular size.
After about 2 weeks of wearing the shoes, the right one began to click when taking a step. I will be returning them this weekend.
