I was looking for a compact and lightweight 2 to 3 person tent to go backpacking with my kids who are into Scouting and we do a lot of backpacking now. I love the look of this tent, and the size and price are a fantastic deal compared to a lot of the competitors. However, it appears you get what you pay for and that lower cost comes with tent components that are poorly manufactured and break shortly after use. To make matters worse, reaching out to Cascade prove to be a waste of time because they refused to repair or replace any of the components which I would happily pay for, but you can’t even get anyone to call or email back after weeks to provide assistance.
DISSAPOINTED! On about the 4th use of this tent-bought last spring 2024-one of the tent connector points came unglued and slipped into the larger section of the tent pole making it unattachable. I have owned a Hubba Hubba before and feel the quality of craftsmanship has diminished greatly. When I took it back to REI they said because it was past a year (by 1 month) and had been used (4 times) I would have to pursue a repair with MSR or repair myself?!?!? Just emailed MSR and was told they are working through a backlog of warranty requests --I guess this means no tent for the summer....and the REI rep at the store told me this was around the 3rd issue with tent poles he had seen with MSR. Big Bummer because I loved my old Hubba Hubba but for this to break without any real stress or user error I really question the quality and durability. I highly recommend you look at another tent especially given the cost. It was not CHEAP
Perfect size/weight for two people hiking the back country.
