Tent has good interior space and a large vestibule. Major complaint is that door is two separate zipper sections when it should be really just be one piece with two pulls. Makes getting it open in the right place a pain. The fly zipper is kinda inconvenient compared to other tents but works ok. Fly kept tent dry with 4 nights of rain but, you really need to stake lines to the fly to keep the drip line away from the tent. MSR’s footprint is too big so it will just catch water and channel it to the tent so it’s a waste unless you’re on rough ground. Interior close lines are nice. Pockets need more reinforcements; stuff just flops outward or fall out of ceiling ones. Very light and packs up tiny. Bag is nice if you don’t already have something for the bars.
Awesome tent for bike packing! Love how it packs down and is very simple to set up. The storage bag is strong material for rugged trails and seems to be waterproof. Very sturdy in strong winds. Being a single person tent It is small and does not have a ton of spare room for gear. Hasn’t been an issue for me so far but good to be aware of.
I like the carry bag that opens conventionally which makes packing extremely easy, also the clothe line feature is a nice touch and useful, the dark green colour also enables me to 'sleep in' more easily. But man this tent is hot, I mean even before I put the rain fly on. It's a little odd to me because to use more mesh should means less weight and lower cost (assuming mesh is cheaper). So for this reason I think this tent is better suited for cooler and drying climates, to use it in hot and humid environments I worry that rain would happen from the inside!!
I’ve previously owned a 1-person Hubba Hubba, but this is definitely an improvement. As an avid Bikepacker, having poles that collapsed to such a compact unit is a big advantage. I’m currently riding a Kona Unit X with a straight bar with a Ortlieb handle bar bag, so I have not used the one that comes with the tent. However, my gravel bike riding friend has and loves it.
What I am meant to do with rainfly door when tent is built on hard surface. Nowhere to attach? Plus footprint is a joke.. Why don't you listen what people want in reviews and design them properly? I was big fan of MSR from years ago but now its like what is this thing?
Hubba Hubba is a great design. Bikepack corrects the one flaw of the original. “Poles that did not fold up short enough to fit crossways in a pack” Congratulations to the designers at MSR.
Awesome tent!! Super lightweight and compact. Without the fly, it’s airy - with the fly it’s warm enough for cold mountain nights (we were in 20deg with no problem).
Great bikepacking tent. Very light. Short poles. Includes bag that mounts on bar.
