Runs a full size small but otherwise excellent

I got these shorts off the clearance rack in store so I was able to try on Large and XL. The large (my usual size 90 percent of the time) did not even slip over my hips! The XL fit like a large. Not exaggerating. On the bright side, they are beautifully fitted near the body without too much compression. The fabric is thick enough that I might have the option of undies if I so choose. On hikes I often prefer to skip my usual leggings for something less skin hugging. These shorts are like relaxed leggings. Although I see in the product photos the models are wearing them pretty tight. They seem to be on sale cheaper online than I paid in store but the quality is high and I think they will be great for hiking since they are slim enough to layer yet thicker and less revealing than typical legging bike shorts.

No, I do not recommend this product
Not true to size, not terribly flattering and not very comfortable. Definitely not up to typical north face standards. Bought for hiking but can’t even imagine wearing these on the trail.

Absolute favorite hiking shorts

BEST HIKING SHORTS EVER. I purchased my first pair 2 years ago and they were my favorite. Unfortunately tore them beyond repair on a root during a mud run and I grabbed another pair when they went on sale. They are snug to get on but once over your hips they fit like a glove. they don't ride up like normal biker shorts when hiking/scrambling on high peaks, and they are super flattering. they hold up to abrasion very well and are compression so if you dont like them tight size up. do yourself a favor and grab 2 pairs

I love the fit of North Face workout pants! I’ve got big, strong thighs & these are the only tight pants that don’t squeeze a dent at the leg while still fitting in the waist. A joy to workout in whether I’m lifting weights, spinning or taking a class.
