Cotopaxi  Sombra Sun Hoodie - Women's

I’ve been wearing this sun hoodie for a month now and I can’t take it off. I’m 5’6 125 lbs and ordered a medium and the fit is perfect. Like too perfect - I like my shirts slightly baggy so if you do too, or you have a longer torso consider going a size up. Thin but not too thin, very durable from knicks and twig tugs. In love with the nectar color as it’s not too bright and the big hood attached that also acts as a sun blocker! Oh yeah….and thumbholes!

I have worn this sun hoodie on many occasions now because I am very fair skinned and the Colorado sun gets me in the summer. I get tired of applying sunscreen every 90 mins! The fabric is very lightweight and breathable, and soft to the touch as well. My only complaint is that the torso on it is very short! It looks awkward, especially in photos, and I spend a lot of time pulling it down. I am average height (5'6") and do not have a long torso. This has never been a problem for me before. I am going to return it and try something in men's to see if it fits better.

This shirt was much larger than expected. I bought a size XS and it was weirdly baggy and not flattering. I especially didn't like the fit around my hips. The fabric is more technical than other sun shirts on the market.

I absolutely love this so much I purchased two more! I’m 5’6”, 135 lbs. med build. I purchased a small and medium and ended up with medium. It fit me perfectly and worked with my long arms so the thumbholes fit great and just so comfortable. The wicker fabric worked great as well. I never got cold over over heated. I loved the attached hoodie. It’s a game changer for the sun. There were times I didn’t want to wear my hat so I just used the hoodie and it didn’t fall off! I would definitely recommend this!

My husband and I were still wearing the old style sun shirt until we hiked a section of the PCT this summer. Everybody was wearing sun hoodies so we decided to investigate further. We looked around at different fabrics and really liked the Cotopaxi sun hoodie feel and fit. We’ve now completed about 100 miles of 500 on the Camino and have worn the hoodie every day. It’s absolutely perfect in the blazing Spanish sun and works well in the evening and the morning when you need just a little extra layer. The hoodie wash as well, doesn’t wrinkle in our backpacks, and dries in a few hours. I would say it’s our number one most indispensable piece of clothing on this trip.

I bought this sun hoodie for a week long bike ride across Iowa--RAGBRAI. This hoodie saved me from the elements where sunscreen failed and was not too hot in 90 degree Temps.

I live in west Texas and the warm sunny months are almost year round. I am diligent about sun protection and wear sun protection clothing often. So much of it isn’t flattering or it’s too oversized and not tailored. But these Sun shirts are so flattering and a perfect weight for layering or wearing alone on these super sunny Texas summer days. They’re also great for hiking in the Palo Duro canyon and on my mountain trips to Colorado. I bought every color and pair them with the Bronco skorts and shorts. Perfection!

I use this mostly for my short bike commute. I’m not outside a lot so it’s great to just put this on and have sun protection. I don’t like the idea of putting on a lot of sunblock for just those 15 minutes when I’m totally exposed to the sun. It allows for enough air flow to feel cool. The fit is nothing special. I like that the neck comes up high to provide more sun protections. I wear a helmet, so I haven’t really worn the hood. I also purchased this before I saw it recommended by Wirecutter. That made me even more confident with my choice on this spendy shirt. I really do hope this shirt lasts me several years.

Been meaning to get a long sleeve for hiking in the sun and this one was perfect. Breathable and kept me protected. Hood was a nice touch! I’ve definitely had my face overly exposed in the past and ended up with sun burns after long backpacking and hiking trips. I usually wear XS or Small and went with the small on this one since some said it fit a bit smaller. Happy I did, the small was a perfect fit. I’m 5’4, 125lbs, athletic build. Very satisfied and would likely purchase again in other colors.

This is the 3rd one of these I own and the only sun shirt I will wear now. I do a lot of rugged outdoor volunteering (paddling, hiking, prairie work, etc) and this is the only shirt that does not snag instantly. My other two shirts have been put through the wringer for a couple of years and still look brand new. I love that it is baggy so it can also be used as a bug layer. The shirt breathes amazingly well, and dries very quickly. The thumb holes are well placed and essential for sun protection and the hood works amazingly well over a baseball cap to add protection to my neck. I recommend these shirts to everyone looking for a sun shirt that is comfortable and really lasts.
