Perfect except for arms
Smart wool is my favorite brand and this shirt does not disappoint. Super lightweight and just the right amount of baggy around the tummy. My only issue, and this is true for all Smartwool tops, is the shoulder width and sleeve size for their larger sizes is not quite generous enough. I’m normal shaped, wear an XL, and the shoulders always seem too narrow. This makes the short sleeves a little too short and too snug. I still wear them but an extra bit of width in the shoulders in their larger sizes by this brand would make a huge difference.
Holes after one wash
This shirt is really thin. I have the blue color and after one wash- the correct way, it has small holes. Now my color and size is out and I cannot replace the items. Really poor quality from Smartwool. I like the more relaxed fit for a change as I always find the XL very snug but the quality is poor.
So thin it’s transparent
Smartwool’s quality has declined while their prices have climbed. Bought this for a backpacking trip to replace a decade+ old icebreaker wool top. This shirt is so thin it’s completely transparent- I can’t imagine it would last through even a few minutes of hiking off trail let alone the week I have planned. Returned and will be avoiding smartwool in the future (already gave up on their socks for similar reasons).
Excellent choice for travel or outdoors
In 23-24 I took a travel year, packing 5 tops to wear. This was one of them. Recently it got too sheer to be worn in public, so I was very excited to see that the shirt is still made and I was able to order a replacement. After using this shirt extensively, I can tell you that: it dresses up or down, it doesn't get stinky or wrinkled, you can wash it in a sink and it will be dry by morning, it layers well, and it doesn't shrink unexpectedly in the middle of a trip. It handles a year of backpack straps rubbing on it just fine, but did get some small wear holes from the button on shorts/pants. The black is lightweight (great in humidity) but not see-through until it has been worn many times.
holes
Love the fabric and the color but washed as directed and now has multiple holes less than a month after purchase.
I don’t recommend
This shirt is completely transparent, you can see every bit of skin underneath.
Runs very large
I started with XL and ended up with M. The fabric is nice, kind of silky, doesn’t feel like wool. The pink-ish color is a little see-through. The blue is very nice.
I had to return it as I could see my bra through it.
Fabric is transparent
I like everything about this shirt except that it is see-through. I'll have to wear another shirt or a tank top under it but otherwise it's fine.
Runs large, very "flowy" fit
Love the virtually weightless fabric and the v-neck, but don't love the fit. I'm 5' 105lbs and bought XS. It's quite large and long on me and not fitted at all (I think the fabric getting bunched up would get annoying/uncomfortable while backpacking, for example). Might keep for casual wear, but not what I intended it for. Might work better for people who can size-down.
