Disappointing Durability for the Price
In less than a year and a half, the sole area of the sock experienced fiber degradation, leading to the formation of a small puncture. Over time, the structural integrity of the knit weakened, causing the hole to expand. The material composition and stitching quality are comparable to mass-produced, low-cost socks found at Walmart, yet the price point is significantly inflated.
Best Wool No-Show Socks
This is a super light-weight no-show sock. I wear them daily to the gym and love them!
Perfect no-show sock for any use
Perfect no-show sock for any use. I tend to run no cushion in my socks as I wear them for every use. Smartwool socks seem to last forever, and don't stink. Coming from someone who usually wears socks once due to sweaty and stinky feet, these don't stink after one use and can be worn multiple times if needed. These have replaced another merino wool ankle sock and I'll for sure be buying more
Will not stay in place!!!
Usually a fan of SW socks, it's usually all I run in. I wanted some casual less cusioned socks for everday wear, so went with these. For whatever reason, the shape of the sock or elastics in the wrong place, always causes it to slip off my heel in the right foot and then half the sock ends up under my foot! Will be looking to replcae these with something else.
They're scratchy
They're scratchy. I couldn't wait to take them off by the end of a three mile walk. I knit, I'm very familiar with merino, it's a very soft wool and merino socks are generally described as being soft. Not these, at least for me. The synthetic/wool weave feels quite distinct and digs into my foot. The socks are thin, as described, and I like that. The sizing worked for me - for reference I wear a women's 10 1/2 AAAA in a dress shoe, a women's 11 in the On Running Cloud 5.
Bought Two, Want More
Love these socks. Only just now realized description says ‘men’. Doesn’t matter, they’re comfortable, they fit and are a perfect ankle sock for everyday wear. I run around the city constantly for work and life and these are the most comfortable all season socks. Warm in winter cool in summer. Never get weird and never let me down.
An excellent purchase for runners
The Smartwool zero cushion socks are an excellent purchase for any runner. I have been running for 20 years and used virtually every type of sock. Yes, I’ve even used cotton white crew socks (not a fan). The Smartwool zero cushion socks are excellent for the following reasons: 1. The material is soft, light, and comfortable. 2. The material is moisture wicking and keeps my feet dry (I am a heavy sweater and drown my feet in sweat on long runs) 3. The extra material on the ankle part of the sock prevents chafing and raw Achilles area skin. 4. The color and design is nice and can match most running kit. A negative is the price point, but these socks are an investment. All of the Smartwool socks I own have lasted years (much longer than a standard pair of white crew socks). If you are hesitant on buying a pair of socks at this price, I would say that you need to evaluate the long term use and how they might benefit you fitness regimen. If you are serious about running (20+ miles a week, I know that is not much to some, then I would suggest them) if you don’t run 20+ a week these might be a consideration as a gift to yourself or runner.
Go to summer sock
These are my favorite summer sock, keeps feet cool and comfy, no holes despite wearing all the time. Love em
great socks
Perfect for running. Thin and breathable.
Sized large, thin and no foot grip
I am a Smartwool fan and have many pairs of their socks. But these socks are not up to their usual high standard. The first problem is sizing. I am a Euro 45, which falls between L and XL on the sizing chart. I purchased two pairs of the XL. It was a mistake. They are so large the heel ends up in the middle of the ankle. The second problem, these socks do not grip your feet. As a result they slide down below the heel to your instep when in use. I forlornly hoped, they might shrink in the wash, but no luck, they are still too large all round. Clearly, a large size might have been better, but their very thin construction, they are advertised as thin, indicates a lack of foot grip might still be there. Disappointing. Luckily, I purchased a pair of Balega Hidden Comfort Socks, in Large, at the same time that turned out to be perfect. I should have bought two of those!
