Size runs small and there are dimples on the heel
I recently purchased a couple different Smartwool running socks so this is generally for all of them. I have been a dedicated smartwool sock user for ~10 years. This latest batch compared to past ones (a) runs very small, (b) have dimples on the heal. I am a male size 9-1/2 D shoe. According to Smartwool that is the low end of size L (9-11.5). Size L out of the box barely fit (had to stretch to get the sock heel fully over mine). So I expect that after washing they will be too small. So I purchased some size XL (12-14.5) which fit great out of the box and should still be perfect after washing. All the socks I purchased were running socks and all had small dimples on the heel which so far don't bother me but this might change with a longer distance.
Comfortable
Comfortable, light weight, and really enjoy that they are odor resistant
Better than expected
I’m always on the fence about Smartwool socks but these did not disappoint.
comfort unsurpassed
these no cushion socks are just what i wanted for ×alking and running. cushioned socks tend to bunch up and cause blisters.
Great socks!
Great socks. Plenty warm. Work well with both my hiking boots and my running sneakers.
Great high performing socks
These have been my go to socks for ultras and every day running. My feet sweat a lot and these dry very quickly in the summer, and do not hold on to much water in the rain or from water crossings. They also keep my feet warm in the winter, even when wet, but I do run pretty warm in general. I wear them 2-3 times per week (10-20 miles) and they generally last about a year always cold washing and hang drying. They always develop holes around the ball of my foot/arch along the sides. Perhaps increasing the higher wear pattern on the bottom further up and around would increase the durability some. However, how well they perform has outweighed this small durability issue. It is also a very thin sock, which is my favorite thing about them, so earlier wear is somewhat expected. If money was of no concern or they were a bit more durable I would probably only wear these socks. 4.5/5
Developed Holes Within A Month!
So surprised as my previous Smartwool socks have always been great! Bought two pairs of these and both developed holes in about a month. I do wear them around the house without shoes, but still, most of my other socks take months before getting holes.
Thin and wonderful
I wear these on the road bike and think they need to be marked for cyclists too. They keep my feet happy.
Great but not very durable
High performance, but broken after 7 months. Still love it.
