For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Comfortable right out of the box. Infact I hiked 30 miles my first day in them and finished a week long backpacking trip in the Alps within first 10 days of owning them. 3600+ elevation gain daily and more than 5000 decent a few days. Put 130 miles on them within the first 8 days. Held up great. Super comfortable, great traction. No blisters. Needed to role my arches out a few days at camp, but that every shoe I wear. Light weight and easy to pack up after or shove in front stuff sack of your pack to walk around in your sandals. They do run the true to size, but narrower foot and more precise toebox this way.
I finally feel like I have the hiking under my belt to give a fairly accurate review of these boots. While life has gotten in the way, and I haven’t gotten to hike my max miles or backpack, I’ve tested them out on multiple hikes with a max 8 miles rocky and hilly hike. These boots offer the best traction I’ve ever had in a boot. I even spent today playing lava land and rock hopping on wet rocks and roots, up and down hills, following a rain. I’m usually a bit ginger but these boots really help me be secure. I ended up with the same size as my previous hiking boots and didn’t need to go up a size at all or go with the side version (I tried the others for comparison and they weren’t right). They seem super durable and went with the leather material over synthetic hoping they would hold up to snowshoe straps better. I’ve only hiked with them during these cooler months do I don’t know if the synthetic with Goretex might offer more breathability in the summer months. So far so great!
Bought a half size up (similar to hiking boots I own in other brands). Wore them around the house and thought they were perfect. Wore them out on a hike and was in agony. Too small. And weirdly, REI website does not have an option for the next size up (not even showing sold out. It’s just not there.) Going to take them back to the store but not sure it will be possible to do an exchange if the next size doesn’t exist? Bought them with my member sale coupon and my dividends and feel like a waste of all that.
These are incredibly comfortable and versatile. Once I realized they were the real deal at keeping your feet warm and dry, I even began wearing them with my snowshoes (short hikes, obviously not a full day trek or anything). I’ve worn them in rainy Alaska, on a cold and wet beach in early Spring, hiking in the summer, and with snowshoes in the winter - or even just alone if walking on a snowy trail that doesn’t need snowshoes. They have been perfect t every single time. Highly recommend!!!
I love these hiking boots as they are lightweight with a solid base. I normally take a sz 8 shoe, bought these in a size 9 which fits comfortably. They have a roomy toe box which is important to me. I have longer than average toes and a slighty thin foot and there is plenty of room in these without being too big. So far, am loving my morning walks with these boots.
Wore these on a 20 mile backpacking trip. I do have a blister at the back of each foot, but I think that may be because of an insole I used. Definitely size up! I walked through several streams and stayed dry. Great grip on slippery rocks and loose gravel. Very comfortable and lightweight. It was 80-90 degrees and my feet felt warm, but I always feel warm wearing thick hiking socks and being outdoors.
These boots are comfortable and grippy. However, I had a hard time getting the size right. My feet is 23.5 cm in length and usually take size 6 with Asolo & Lowa , 6.5 with Soloman, and 7 with Altra. I initially ordered 37.5 regular in leather; they were way too small and toebox was very narrow. Then I ordered 38 W non leather . This time the width was fine but they were still a tad too short, my big toes were touching against the front. While I was in store, I tried on 38W in leather, however, this time my feet were swimming in the boots. I noticed that the leather version was actually a tad longer than the non leather version of the same size. I then purchased the leather version in 38.5. The width was right but too long. My feet were sliding even I added extra insoles. I had to order size 38 regular in leather from La Sportvia website since REI no longer havs tht in stock. Fingers crossed , hope this time they will be the right size.
Too narrow for my feet. Everything else seems comfortable but after a 1 mile walk on a hot day my feet were aching.
I’ve only had these five months and the bottom is trash and worn out. My last pair of La Sportiva boots latest three years. They were great, but I wanted a new pair for a hiking trip. Sadly, I gifted them to a new hiker or I would just use those. The soles on this pair are not Vibram. That may be the issue.
I have extremely narrow feet. I’m a 6.5 but always get a size 7 shoe. I ordered size 7 which fit great for the narrow feet but my toes were hitting the toe box when I walked. I ordered a full size up and returned these. A full size up is a half an inch which is what I would need with thick socks and room for any swelling on long hikes. The ankle support is great and I love everything else about these shoes!
