Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Great shirt for trails and workouts
This shirt is it! Fabric is smooth and lightweight, breaths well, and doesn't get hung up on body while moving. Out on the trails it wicks away sweat faster than anything I've owned. If you run on the roads you may want a little more reflective accents than what this shirt has, wear a reflective vest or lights for sure. The cut around the arms is a little weird and comes up short with raised arms. Overall great shirt that I would highly recommend to anybody. Light for any season as a midlayer or outer layer.
Light and comfortable
So far fifteen miles of trail running with twenty pound weight vest, three days of yard work and a day of wandering through Sierra Nevada mountains and this shirt is seriously comfortable. I wear a xxL which weighed on a food scale 5.6 oz. Fabric is soft and wicks perspiration fast enough to not weigh it down. It fits loose and the fabric flexes with movement so if you like a snug fit maybe go a size smaller. This shirt retains no heat so don’t rely on it to keep warm but would be ok as an additional base layer. Seems durable and looks to be well made.
Even better than I expected.
This shirt is marketed as being "so light and cool it's like running in nothing at all". I don't put a lot of stock in claims like this put out by a manufacturer, but I have to admit that this isn't far off from what I was thinking wearing this shirt on a hike. On a cool day it doesn't provide a whole lot of warmth or protection from a breeze, but it also doesn't get in the way when your body is trying to cool off, while still providing sun protection (wish it was UPF rated). I have a thin wool performance shirt that is similar, but isn't nearly as comfortable against the skin. As for the material, it's 100% polyester. That alone doesn't tell you much, but it surprised me that after wearing it for four (non-consecutive) days without a wash it still barely smelled at all; in fact, I tossed it aside because it did have an air of stink following the 4th wear, but after two days in the laundry basket it doesn't smell at all any more. Given that it also doesn't wrinkle at all this a great shirt to stuff into a bag for traveling. There's less stretch to this shirt than I expected, which might be a comfort issue if it didn't fit so perfectly. A size small fits my 5'10" frame (38" chest) exactly as I'd want it to; it's not tight or snug in any way, but is fitted enough to not look sloppy and to wear as a baselayer. I find the sleeve and torso length to be perfect as well. Overall, I'm very happy with this shirt and suspect I'll get a lot of use out of it.
Great technical shirt for runs or hiking layering!
Very impressed with this technical shirt. Great quality and fit and seems to be pretty durable. I have work it in runs and just as a layer on some walks and it is super comfortable. You don’t get any of the static/stickiness you sometimes feel on these types of shirts. It has the lightweight, hardly there feel. The fit is trim but not too tight and the length is perfect. I also like the tear away inside care tags and tagless print everywhere else which adds to the comfort level. The reflective tabs on the sleeves are a nice touch as well.
Absolutely love this shirt
I have a really hard time finding shirts that have long enough sleeves, broad enough shoulders, long enough in the torso, and a trim enough torso to fit me but this really fits the bill. This shirt is so light and comfortable it works in warm summer weather to keep off some sun, but provides just a touch of warmth since its long sleeved that you can wear it a little cooler too. I decided to buy a couple more colors because I like it so much. Just wish there were more bright colors. I have too much black and olive green as it is! For sizing, I can be a medium or a large. For this I went with a tall medium and it was pretty much bang on how I wanted it to fit.
Bought a second one
I bought the REI Swiftland that is polyester without spandex and the REI Sahara that is polyester with spandex at the same time. The Sahara fits slightly tighter and is less comfortable than the Swiftland. The Swiftland fits loosely and comfortably. For a long day outside in hot sunny conditions the Swiftland in a tall size with long sleeves is close to perfect for me. For a little more style I wear the Sahara.
My new go-to shirt for hiking
These shirts are my new go-to for fast hiking and backpacking in hot weather. They use absolutely the lightest-weight fabric of any technical clothing I have. The texture also makes the fabric the most effective I've found for wicking sweat. I look forward to using them as a base-layer in winter for vigorous exercise in the cold. I just wish REI would make a corresponding pair of ultra-light minimalist pants with this fabric, without unnecessary pockets, DWR coating or other "features" which just add cumbersome weight and detract from wicking.
FINALLY, ultralight running clothes for tall guys
I’m 6’5” 265 lbs. the size 2XL tall fits great. Normal fit for my “dad body”. The shirt is comfortable and crazy light. The weight of my size 2XLT is only 5.75 ounces, measured on a scale. Dries very very fast. It seems well sewn and sturdy given the ultralight weight. Made the cut for my UL through hiking kit. After an exhaustive search, I found that this may be the only ultralight long sleeve tee that fits a big guy currently being made. Thanks REI for again stocking cloths for us big guys.
Good but prefer smaller neck for sun protection
I bought it for sun protection, experimenting with not using sunscreen, and was happy with it on a warm day, but the neck hole is a bit too big to cover as well as I'd like (I'm slender build, size M tall). Can't please everyone, as I see someone else was happy for a larger neck. Guess I need a turtle neck version, or I need to find a fitted neck gaiter with shoulders, as a tube type (or sun hat) isn't 100% reliable with a crew neck.
Paper thin and lightweight. Very good
I bought this Swiftland version and Active Pursuits long sleeve because I wanted long sleeves for sunny days to protect my skin during a run. The Swiftland is a lighter, thinner shirt compared to the thicker, heavier Active Pursuits. I like the Swiftland more but they’re both good. I use it to run and love it. It protects my skin and keeps me cool without any chafing. I might get another when there’s a sale!
