Features

  • Each half of the Duo mat fills separately, allowing users to customize their firmness; and, if 1 sleeper moves around, their motion is less likely to disturb the other sleeper
  • Duo sizing can save weight, as a Duo pad is generally lighter than the weight of 2 separate pads combined
  • Mat is 3 in. thick, providing ample comfort against rocky, rooty, uneven terrain
  • 20-denier, 100% recycled polyester fabric is incredibly light weight; nonslip finish helps keep you on the pad
  • Interior hydrolysis-resistant laminate is impervious to bacteria and moisture, which can degrade typical polyurethane coatings, ensuring an airtight mat for many years
  • Internal welded baffles separate air chambers, creating a fully cushioned and stable sleep surface and preventing cold spots without excessive weight and bulk
  • Internal synthetic insulation is laminated to both the top and bottom of each baffle, ensuring consistent warmth and R-value rating, use after use, year after year
  • Proprietary 60 g Texpedloft microfiber insulation
  • Air chambers are oriented head-to-toe, so the pad becomes slightly wider when weighted
  • Oversize outer chambers form the Exped Comfort Cradle, helping to keep you centered and secured on the pad
  • Vertical baffle orientation also reduces end-of-baffle welds, increasing lifespan of the pad
  • Tapered design (head to foot) saves weight and reduces bulk when packed
  • Medium size tapers from 41.3 in. wide at the head to 32.3 in. wide at the foot
  • Long Wide size tapers from 51.2 in. wide at the head to 40.6 in. wide at the foot
  • This mat has an R-value of 2.9, which makes it best for adventures in cool weather; it provides moderate insulation from ground temperature
  • The higher the R-value, the more insulated the mat
  • Durable, easy-to-use, one-way Flat Valves provide a high volume of airflow so you can quickly inflate/deflate the pad
  • Flat Valves also eliminate the hard-to-soft interface of standard pad valves, reducing wear points and prolonging pad life
  • Includes Schnozzel pump bag for inflation (weight: 2.1 oz.), a stuff sack for protection during transportation, and a repair kit with adhesive and fabric patches

Fits perfectly (long wide) in my Hubba hubba NX. My partner can move around as much as she wants, and I don’t feel a thing. No more having pads slide away from each other. Included blow up bag is genius. Takes about three bags to inflate each side.

I purchased this duo sleeping pad for my husband and me to use with our zip together sleeping bags in our 2p backpacking tent. It fits absolutely perfectly in our tent with enough room at head and feet for stuff we want inside the tent but not on top of a puncturable air mattress. It is very easy to inflate with the included bag when outside the tent, but the mattress won't fit through the tent door once full. However, it's difficult to use the bag to inflate the pad when it is inside the tent, this requires trips back and forth into and out of the tent. That being said, it only takes 3-4 bags of air to inflate the whole thing- so an easy process overall, <5 mins- and the valves are very easy to use. The pad is also VERY easy to roll and pack and is a fantastic size and weight for backpacking. Functionally, it's fantastic. The trouble we have is that it's very noisy if either sleeper moves- noisy enough it wakes us both up any time we aren't completely still. Also, while it has the two separate air chambers, by personal preference we do not care for the bounciness of the air mattress as compared to a self-inflating part foam pad. I really, really wanted this to be answer (ie. about 2lbs less weight for this than 2 self-inflating pads and so, so easy to pack), but I sleep so badly on it that I'm not sure whether we'll keep using it.

Great so far

This is my first time using a double pad and I was impressed. The Exped material is comfy to use with a quilt, it's quieter than every other UL pad I've tried, and it fit two average-sized side sleepers comfortably; the two-section design is smart—you can inflate to different levels if you want, and you don't feel the other person moving around as much. I stayed warm and cozy and got about the best night sleep I've had on trail. It's also very easy to inflate: each side was ready to go in about 2.5 fills and the pump sac design is effective. I liked it so much I'm returning my solo Nemo Tensor and buying the one-person version of this.

Perfect for me and my pup

I was skeptical because I hadn't heard of the brand before but I'm really happy with this purchase. I bought this to use with my 60 lb dog (pictured). I wanted to get a double pad because due to sleeping geometry, my poor pup is always falling off of his sleeping pad and subsequently cold, uncomfortable, and unhappy all night. It's also nice to be able to snuggle together when it's cold out. I went with the LW size because the extra 10 oz were worth it for 9 more inches of width. I think we could also make this work for 2 humans and 1 dog in a pinch but it would be tight. I didn't want to let him on the pad without a nail trim but he does what he wants and the pad held up totally fine. Plus, the whole thing inflated in less than 3 minutes! Yes, I timed it. Very excited to take this on our upcoming trip.

Very comfortable and packs small!

Absolutely love this sleeping pad! Very comfortable, packs away small and very easily, lightweight, high quality, plenty of room for my boyfriend and I. We got the Wide-Long version of this 2 person sleeping pad. My boyfriend and I have been waiting to pull the trigger on a nice sleeping pad. All the other 2 person sleeping pads that we looked at did not pack up nearly as small as this one. We were hesitant with the price at first but decided to pull the trigger and find out if the quality matched the price and we can’t stop talking about how comfortable the pad was and how well we slept. Would recommend this to anyone!

Saved my camping setup

I finally found the perfect camping mattress after trying at least seven different mattresses/pads! This one packs up small, inflates and deflates fast, doesn't have all the foam like the others (that weren't comfortable to me and took a lot of work to pack away), and it's wide enough to support my bad shoulders. It even works well for side sleeping. I went with the 3R instead of the 5R even though it was $50 MORE for less insulatin (weird, I know) because I wouldn't be sleeping at super cold temperatures and more often in the 30 to 60 degree range.

Great paired with a 2P quilt or sleeping bag

This pad fits perfectly in a Nemo hornet 2p tent... Almost like it's made for it! Along with the Ray Way 2p DIY quilt, my girlfriend and I have never slept better while backpacking. With individual pads we constantly had drafts coming up in-between us, and often one of us would wind up on the tent floor in-between us in the middle of the night. This pad allows us to lower our overall weight and get a more comfortable sleep. We've taken this pad below freezing without feeling cold at night.

Great at saving weight when hiking with a partner

My fiance and I decided to pick this up since we planning on mostly hiking together. She likes a bit more room while I'm okay with smaller spaces. This was perfect as it supported both of our sleeping styles. The weight itself is really light, lighter than if we had two separate pads in a lot of cases. T It worked out well, since I was carrying the tent, I didn't have to also have the weight of the pad, overall balancing our load pretty well. It packs up surprisingly compact too, which is great. The size fulled inflated is BIG. We knew it was gonna be big, but it still surprised us. The size was fine for our 3-person tent, but I'd be careful and properly select tent size on smaller tents, or get the smaller model (We got the LW). I think my favorite part of the pad though is it's dual chamber system. I had no idea when I bought it, but the pad has two separate air chambers inside of it. This meant that if she would move or get up in the night, I wasn't affected at all, unlike normal air mattresses/sleeping pads. We absolutely LOVED this feature, and is honestly our favorite part, getting a perk of separate pads while still getting all the goods of a shared one. We got down into the low 30s during our initial test, and the pad kept us plenty warm in conjunction with our individual sleep systems. No worries there. I don't know if I'd take it too much colder, but with proper bags I'm sure it would be plenty. The only true cons I can think of is depending on you and your partners pack setup, it may be a bit difficult to distribute weight evenly. I know we had little trouble with it, but every group is different. It also sort of traps you into only hiking with your partner (Not a bad thing) unless you have extra pads. In our opinion though, these are very minor cons. Overall, we are very pleased with the pad. It is an excellent 3-Season pad, and we are excited to continue using it on our adventures!

This is the One

I had a few criteria: -two person pad -as lightweight as I could find -somewhat insulated This is basically the only one. Used it for five weeks on a long trip this summer before getting two patchable pin holes the last night. The inflation bag is a surprising perk, much better quality and quicker at inflating than my Thermarest version for a different pad. If you're doing any real backpacking and want to cuddle on the same pad, this is it.

Love it

We've been using an Exped 5R duo pad for years, and were looking for a pad that was slightly lighter. This one is the same shape, just as comfy and slightly lighter. We'll keep the 5R version in case we go on a very cold backpacking trip, but this one seems nice for 3 seasons.
