Stylish and functional, but less durable

I've bought at least 6 pairs of the old Prana Halle pants over the past decade+ in many styles and many colors. I loved those pants. They are my regular office wear. They've been out hiking, rock climbing, long bike rides, long airplane rides you name it. They've been amazing. I purchased two pairs of halle II last year, one straight, one classic and have definitely noticed a difference. The good: the styling is better than ever and the pockets are much bigger. They finally keep my phone from falling out in the car. The fabric is lighter and shinier and after taking them backpacking they seem as tear resistant and stain resistant. The bad: they pill aggressively. Both pairs have started pilling in 6 months and after a year have noticeable pills around the pockets and at the hems. In some ways Prana set the bar too high by making their original pants look brand new after many years of weekly wear. If only they returned to their original fabric with their current design... And bring back the convertible!

Not as good as predecessor

I LOVED the old version of these pants, and I’m really disappointed in the new version. They run much smaller - size up from what you wear in the old pants - and they also have zero stretch to them. I get that they are trying to use recycled plastic (how helpful is that actually, though?), but it is not comfortable. I’m literally touching both side by side, and I’m sorry to say they really messed up here. These were THE pants everyone wears - this and the mens version.

Disappointed

I purchased these pants because I knew the product. My previous purchase lasted for several years. Unfortunately, after very little wear and tear this item has me disappointed. The quality of the material is very different. The fibers are 'piling'. I am not sure how to describe.

Crazy versatile and super comfortable, must have!

I have three pairs of the Prana Halle! There are very limited items in one's wardrobe that'd you'd *want* to hike, lounge, garden, and go out wearing -- be comfortable, passable in public, etc. These do all those things! Super comfortable (stretchy), high quality (durable), and functional. The only downside (which is an upside for me) is that I imagine they run short in length. I am wearing a 4-Regular in the photo. The short inseam is a bit too short. Highly recommend this pant.

Disappointed

These pants are billed as hiking pants that "resist abrasion." I bought these for travel, and they didn't last 5 days. The fabric catches easily and pills. I had on a raincoat with velcro wrists, and the velcro caught on the pants and caused them to pill up immediately. I would have expected that a hiking pant would withstand more than that. They do have a very nice fit. The zip pockets are in the right place but they are too small to hold a phone. I really wanted to like these pants, but I wouldn't buy them again.

Awful pilling after only wearing a few days

I found these pants to fit well (14 petite) and were very comfortable. Also looked great for every day wear, not just for hiking. I bought 2 pairs and after wearing 1 for about 5 days, had horrible pilling in the inner thigh area. I think it is made from a different fabric than the rest of the pants. I returned those, thinking maybe it was just that pair. However after wearing the second pair for only 3-4 days, the same thing happened. I will be returning that pair and never buying Prana again. For $95, they shouldn't do that at all and certainly not after only wearing them a short time. Both times it occurred after wearing them but never having washed them.

Never buying prAna again

I had to return after wearing twice. Thank goodness REI respects their customers and allows for easy returns because this was a horrible product. I used to love prAna hiking pants. I bought a pair 7 years ago that are still in great condition, but I needed to go up a size. I bought these and immediately felt the quality difference. Apparently prAna was bought by a new company and other people have noted quality decline. These pilled significantly after just two wears. I never have this problem with hiking pants. It looked like I had owned them for several years, not several days. It's a shame because they fit perfectly, tts, good length size 4. I'll definitely never buy prAna hiking pants again.

Lose their shape quickly

I wanted to love these when I tried on and purchased them in store but they do not hold their shape. I started purchasing clothing that I could get dual purpose work and outdoor use out of. I sat at my office for about 2 hours, they lost their shape, and stretched out so much in the hip, seat, and thigh they looked messy. They were not tight when I purchased them, and liked the original fit before sitting in them. My son has the past years mens versions and loves them and they don't stretch out on him after wearing/driving all day. Sadly, these will be returned. For reference I am 5'2", 120lb, purchased size 2 short. Such a bummer.

Sizing runs large

I was very excited to purchase these. I am athletic, 5’3”, 125lb and wear size 2-4 (depending on the brand). I bought the 4 online and it was very loose. I unfortunately live in Hawai’i and their return policies are terrible to return via shipping. I figured it was a lost cause and decided to by a size 2 while the sale was still going on and they just arrived. Again, they’re a bit on the loose side. I could easily wear tights underneath. This wouldn’t be a problem if I lived in a colder state and needed to layer. But again, I live in Hawai’i where I need pants to hike (sometimes having to bushwhack through brush) but nothing heavy since it’s warm temps all the time.

Very bad pilling after a few months

I love these pants and purchased two pairs. They are lightweight and comfortable, and great for travel. But I am disappointed to see serious pilling after just a few months. They are basically unwearable now and will need to be replaced. I'm now sorry that I paid so much for them.
