Great backpack
Got this for work so I could put all my gym clothes, lunch bag, and everyday together instead of a purse and other bags. Fabric is durable, fit is great, and the size is just big enough without being overly bulky or in the way. Side pockets are a great fit for my 24oz water bottles and this would probably make a great trail pack too. I have a 28l refugio as well and there is a noticeable difference between the 2 bags. I'll probably buy another one in a different color to add to my collection.

Not so great....
At first glance seems like a good backpack, but once you start using it the (lack of) details really start to show. There is absolutely NO internal organization. If you're using this solely as a daypack and don't care about just chucking anything in there you may fare better. The basic structure is 1) outside mini pocket for valuable 2) main large pocket for everything 3) rear laptop pocket. The only organization is via an (included) laptop sleeve, however it is fairly bulky and adds unnecessary weight. In addition, even holding just my keys + sunglasses+ badge, the outside mini pocket would jut out and look bad. The pack width adjustment straps are poorly designed and only add to the jutting out effect if you have literally anything in the outside pocket. Would probably make an okay daypack, however as a commuting pack it does not get the job done nearly as well as other options.

No removable padded sleeve

A very beautiful backpack with a nice color, but upon opening it, I found that there is no removable padded sleeve. This has left me puzzled, as I can't use it for my iPad or laptop. I'm not sure if the removable padded sleeve has been discontinued, or if it was simply overlooked.

Unicorn EDC Adventure Bag

I've spent quite a lot of time searching for a pack that balanced size, comfort, and organization in a way that serves what I want. I work in higher education at a rural university, so I wanted a pack that would allow me to bring what I need to work (books, folders, laptop, utensils, cables) but *also* would allow me to carry my DSLR camera disassembled in soft cases (since I'm an eager and constant photographer.) The Refugio 30L has been my unicorn. The harness system is excellent, the bag has just enough organization between its main compartments and the included laptop sleeve/caddy, and it can carry what I need without feeling "overstuffed." Bonus points for the mesh bottle holders, compressing straps, and paracord front also being *excellent*! If your use case at all resembles mine, this is a fantastic purchase!

Excellent Travel/Commuter Bag

I have used this both for one-bag traveling and as a daily commuter. It was a little tight as an underseat bag, but I also had it packed full with 3 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, a dress, undergarments, toiletries, and electronics. The side/outside compression straps/cord are fantastic. I accidentally cinched my AirPods between my travel pillow and the bag and they somehow made it through two airports without falling out. I’m 5’5” and the bag fits my frame well. I had no problem carrying it all day. I wish the bag opened a little more (more like a clamshell) but it’s been a perfect bag for me. I removed the laptop protector and use my own.

Perfect size for underseat travel backpack

Perfect size for underseat travel backpack. Removable laptop section mean I can switch to full size hydration bladder or just storage for hiking.

Beautiful, but somewhat flimsy and too short.

I'm six feet tall, it didn't fit my frame. The cross-chest strap, for instance, which can be easily adjusted in a range of slots along the shoulder straps, was far too high to be used. The shoulder straps were thin and the padded portion short. I think the accommodation of a hydration bag gave me the impression that this pack would be okay for a long and somewhat rigorous day hike, but it wasn't. It's a beautiful bag — I think it would be a nice daypack for city use as long as the load wasn't too heavy.

Daily or Travel: This is the Bag

For a day-today pack, or for a non-rainy day hike, this is a great pack. I use this daily instead of a purse, and it fits everything! The tech pockets in the back zipper compartment protected my laptop through TSA & the pack was perfect size for carry-on on a trip. There aren't a lot of organizational pockets in the main compartment, FYI. I like the bungees on the front for storing jackets & whatnot for when weather is weathering. Note: you will need a rain/dust cover!! I learned this the hard way. Great news though, washing it is easy. I've washed it in a garment bag on a gentle machine cycle in cold water, then hung it to dry, removing the laptop sleeve for drying. After several washes and months of use it still looks/feels brand new. I love this bag.

Not for me

Used for day to day commuting and light travel. Elastic bands get snagged on things, outside water bottle pockets are stretched out. And after 7 months of use, the stitching is coming undone, the toggle covers and zipper pulls are broken and I'm returning it. Not sure if I got a dud, but I only used it for pretty relaxed city life, not sure how it would've held up to more outdoors-y adventures.

Pretty good bag, but not perfect

I have been on the lookout for the perfect bag for me, and this checks a lot of boxes but isn't perfect. Very lightweight! Good material and size. Has load lifters. I don't carry a laptop during personal travel, so I like that you can remove the laptop protector. I don't love the stretchy sting on the front, I would rather have an open pocket to store a jacket, etc. Comfortable carry, but I'm still in search of perfection.
