Ultra lite socks first Darn Tough socks I dislike

I have several pairs of different types of Darn Tough socks that I am very happy with, but not these. These Ultra Lites run significantly smaller size wise. They feel like they slip and slide on my feet. The ONLY time I ever started to get a potential blister hot spot when wearing Darn Tough socks was when I wore these on a fairly short hike (wearing shoes I normally wear backpacking, so it was not a shoe related issue). I do not recommend these ultra lites at all, but I do recommend the normal, thicker Darn Tough hiking socks.

Painful for long distance

They're nice and plush, but become painful for me when I'm running more than 3 or 4 miles. The "cushioning" puts extra pressure on the ball of my foot that it quickly became very painful to run in, esp when climbing hills. On a recent run, I ended up taking them off at mile 15 and ran the last 5 miles without socks. Perhaps my feet are more used to non-cushioned socks, but it feels like these socks added pressure points. I have other, less tight but equally thick socks that do no result in the same issue.

Runs small, heel keeps slipping off

My feet are size 13, maybe 13.5, and I bought the extra large. They are too small. I constantly have to talk them up over my ankles because slip down as I walk. I bought them online just before a long trip, too late to return them, and I wouldn't have bought them if I had known that the fit was so poor.

Comfortable, durable and wicks moisture away

I've had multiple pairs of Darn Tough marino wool hiking socks and loved them so much I decided to replace my entire sock wardrobe with the brand. These no-show running socks fit true to size and don't slip off my heels when I walk or run in my Brooks Adrenaline shoes. They have light cushioning that doesn't slip or slosh around. The top layer is also very breathable and prevents my feet from being drenched in my sweat.

Comfortable

I sit right between sizes so I ordered up. Glad I did, these seem to run small. One note - these socks are NOT "no-show". I didn't look closely enough at the photos. This doesn't effect me, but if you truly want "no-show" socks, these are not it.

Great for every day use

I have 4 of these socks now, I use these socks for chilling at camp, working out, sleeping, hiking etc. Super comfortable and light weight. I used to use smartwool and made a full switch to Darn tough!

Size matters.

Not all socks come in XL but Darn Toughs do. It makes a big difference in feet over size 12.

terrible

I bought these socks excited for the lifetime warranty, and I prefer merino wool socks because they are much better than cotton or pure nylon as far as smell goes after a long day of work. I wore them literally the first day and ripped a hole right in the heel. I was fine with it, as I thought I could just do the exchange and get a new pair both cost and hassle free. Little did I know, REI no longer honors the lifetime warranty, so they need to be shipped to darn tough at your own expense. This is a scam and not worth it for terrible quality socks that cost quite a bit of money per pair. Smartwool socks are much higher in quality, but those don’t have the warranty either so there is no cheap alternative but DON’T buy darn tough. They should rename their brand darn rough as far as quality is concerned.

Can't beat Darn Tough socks!

Love these socks, the heal tab helps prevent rubbing and my feel stay dry throughout the run. Very durable and Darn Tough stands behind their amazing warranty. These scoks are useful far beyond running. I have incorporated them into my everyday life and wont trav with anything else.

Cozy but did not last the long haul.

I was a little sad in mine. My hiking and camping socks have lasted a good long while. But these only lasted me a few months in training. First the heel and then the toe area started to tear for me. The fit is really nice, I loved how it felt while running. But when it came time to let the company know, I was taken back to think that I couldn’t be doing this over and over again and decided to go with another brand. Lovely fit and feel, but for me they did not last the tests of training.
