Runners, opt for the Yaktrax Pro instead.
Having run many miles in the Pro version, the "running" version of Yaktrax is simply BAD. There is very little traction on the toe-off portion of the running stride. Expect to slip with every toe-off. Heel traction is great; forefoot on these is pitiful.
Strap broke after third use
The strap in the front of the shoe broke after the third use. Maybe because it was too tight and barely fit over my Brooks Revel sneakers. Also, it didn’t feel like there was much traction. Definitely not for running. I’m so mad I took too long to try it out and now I can’t return it.
broke instantly
I was just trying to put them on for the first time and the rubber on the back ripped instantly. The size chart is definitely for shoes that don’t have any stack height.
Poor Design, Poor Customer Service
I purchased this product a couple years ago and I tried to use them for the first time last week. The toe strap was not large enough to fit over my Altra Lone Peak shoes. I attempted to run in them and both toe straps folded under the shoe and I had to remove them to make it home. I contacted Yaktrax and they said they would not replace them. I do not recommend this product or Yaktrax/Impulse LLC.
Worked fine once. Then broke.
With great effort, I managed to get my size L pair on my size 11 Salomon Ultra 5 low hiking shoes. They then worked well on semi-hard packed snow over dirt trail, and I was even able to run a little in them. This was my first use of any sort of traction device--the same trail was tricky to hike on without them the day before. BUT the second time I (tried to) put these (too small) size L's on those same Salomons, a left rear rubber section broke.
extremely light and grippy
Taken on one trail run, has great traction even off trail and on frozen lakes. Fits very snugly and are low profile. Far from mountaineering crampons but they work for running and solid ice or ice over pavement.
They fit my size 15 Altra Lone Peak 8s.
They fit my size 15 Altra Lone Peak 8s. These gave me more confidence when running on ice and hard packed snow last night. I felt a little slip a single time, while my friends not wearing any crampons slowed down a lot due to their concern about the ice and hard packed snow.
