[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a bird photographer, winter can be challenging and uncomfortable. Hiking to my favorite spot, and/or sitting in a blind in freezing temps and wet conditions requires the right gear. Bugaboot Celsius Plus boots keep my feet warm and dry enabling me to go where I want and stay as long as I like. Out of the box, I was surprised by how lightweight they are and the quality of their construction and material. I wear size 12 reg width, but ordered 12 wide to accommodate my orthotic insoles and thick wool socks. The 12 wide is a perfect fit. A bit stiff at first, but understandably so and easy to break in during the first weekend of use. I put them to the test with 2 4-mile hikes at times wading in water up to within an inch of the top of the boots while temps ranged between 6-14° F ... No problems. Feet stayed dry and warm. If you're looking for a great winter boot at a bargain price ... look no further. I highly recommend Columbia's Bugaboot Celsius Plus boots.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought these for going to Breckenridge Co. They are really nice and dry. Perfect fit I’m a 10 and bought a 10. Great durable snow boots. We have been wearing them with SnowFeet and they are a great companion.
These boots are solid and feel well constructed. I do a lot of winter fat biking and have been on the search for a boot that can actually keep my toes warm. Because of the biking I don't get the same movement in my foot as if I was hiking to get blood moving to keep the toes warm. With some socks and a vapor barrier I've been able to bike outside in these boots for a few hours at around 15F with wind chills getting down to -10F. My only issue is that there does not seem to be much insulation right above where the front 3 or so inches of your foot is in the boot, but I would assume that if you are using these for any walking activity outside your toes will be just fine. It did take me a few bike rides to get the right sock layering down to keep my toes warm but once I did the cold toes have not been an issue. I would still highly recommend these boots to anyone looking for a solid and warm boot for the winter as I know that they were not designed for biking and therefore would need some creativity to keep warm. If you have the opportunity I would try to get to a store to try them on. Because of how much insulation is throughout the boot it might be a good idea to go up half a size or a full size but that would likely depend on how thick of socks you plan to wear with these.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] THESE RUN A SIZE SMALL! Normally a 13 Wide. I needed a 14 Wide, in both the Bugaboot Celsius and Celsius Plus. Weird thing is- the Celsius Plus (400g Thinsulate) fits looser than the “regular” Celsius (200g Thinsulate). Go figure… I just got these, but anticipate that they’ll be AWESOME for active things like snowshoeing, hiking, still hunting, etc. Quiet, light, quiet, and pretty comfortable right off the bat. I expect that comfort will only improve with further use. A heavy pac-style boot is still going to be the winner for sedentary activities like ice fishing, or sitting on stand while hunting.
I had to wear these some before writing about them. I am using them in an industrial setting, where I have to walk through a lot of different puddles. These are good for that as they are waterproof. They fit very well and I can walk in them all day and they feel good. Also critical for my use is they work with toe warmers. I almost feel bad about wearing them at work and am considering getting a second pair for recreation. Gaiters would work well with them and I think they would be good for snowshoes or cold weather hiking. The gold heat reflectors must be working too.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just bought these. They are the best at traction, on basically any terrain, and they keep your feet warm and dry. They do run small, I got a size 13, should have gotten a size 13.5 or 14, they are quite tight on my feet. The materials are premium and very well made. I do wish there was a little bit more flexibility in the boots. Overall though, an excellent boot, just get a size larger than you normally would and you'll be fine.
I ordered these boots on line so I was not able to try them on first. Had I tried them on, I would not have purchased them. These boots fit like a box with laces. The are very stiff and do not fit normal feet like other shoes/boots. Too roomy in the ankles and arch area but short in length. Do not buy these boots unless you can go in and try them on at the store.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Took these for a March trip to rural Alaska. I was out all hours of the day, in snow and in temps down to -20. These held up great. Waterproof, too: accidentally stepped in overflow on the Yukon and my feet didn't even get wet! The only drawback is these are so warm my feet sweated a lot and the boots were damp for most of the trip. But the insulation still worked, and my feet stayed toasty.
I buy Columbia boots for my family every year. We have wide feet and their boots usually accommodate our width so we love them! The width on these particular boots are just okay. They could be a little wider, but they're manageable. The length is spot on though. We ordered size 9.5 and the length was perfect. They're very, very warm, which is great. I advise wearing a thin sock so feet won't sweat so much. One of my family members is complaining that the top of the left boot is hurting her calf when she walks in them. I don't know if that's a defect because she says that the right boot is so comfortable. Anyway, the only major problem is they are a little narrower than expected or preferred.
Second pair of these boots to replace the well worn pair I have used for years. Have found these to be as comfortable and well constructed as the first. Actually, the lacing system is better. Have only been out in temperatures as low as 10 degrees so far but feet are kept nice and warm. Saw one review opining that they thought the traction not very good. This has not been my experience with either pair.
