Perfect tent for small family

We've had the Alpha Breeze for seven months now and are really loving this tent. When we go camping, we tend to spend a lot of time in the tent with our toddler and really enjoy how spacious the Alpha Breeze feels. Having the ability to stand up in the tent as well as having four entry points are what really set this tent apart from the rest. The ventilation in the summer is amazing and having the ability to fully zip up all the mesh windows helps keep out cold air drafts in the cooler months. The front porch is a nice place to spend time and setting up the tent is pretty easy for one person after a couple times doing it together. Also, the design of the tent looks really nice compared to all the other bright orange and neon green tents you typically come across. If your looking for a tent that is high quality and spacious, yet not overly large where it won't fit in most campsites, then the Alpha Breeze is definitely worth considering!

Made with Teflon (i.e., PFAS)
Notachance

The style and function of this is among my favorite of tents. However, its drawback is the material its constructed with. Though REI doesn't disclose this, its fly sheet is coated with Teflon. Of course, Teflon is made out of PFAS which are toxic volatile compounds also known as “forever chemicals”. Using this tent means exposing yourself and others who share it with you to those compounds — which have shown to increase chances of cancer, birth defects, liver disease, thyroid disease, hormone disruption, and decreased immunity. When using the fly sheet, which is required for one to benefit from the awning, you’ll also increase the likelihood that PFAS contaminate whatever water that comes into contact with it. Similarly, when one cleans the fly sheet this can happen. It's ivory color will inevitably show dirt stains. Those can be easily cleaned, but doing so can cause transmission of PFAS compounds on to the skin and clothing of whoever is cleaning it and to the water running off of it. As others have mentioned, the mesh screening on it does not protect you from no-see-ums. Being composed of synthetic material, it has a tendency to feel clammy and is prone to condensation unless you ventilate it by opening up its various screens. I replaced it with a canvas tent and felt that that material breathes better even without needing to open doors or windows for ventilation. I do hope that in the future Snow Peak discontinues the use of PFAS for the sake of their customers’ health and for the environment.

Really love this tent!

I am a solo camper but I imagine that I sometime will camp with my partner and even kid. And I like to have spacious interior room when I have the capacity to carry the tent with me. So I chose this tent because it can hold up to 5 people according to the manual, and the fact that I can actually set up the tent totally by my own. I especially like the awning feature, and that you can open up all four sides of the tent for ventilation and appreciating the view around. I've only camped with it in winter at southern California, where at night temperature can drop to around 4 Celsius (aka 39 F). With a Nemo 15 sleeping bag, a Pendleton blanket, and an Exped, I felt warm enough and I slept well when camping. Also, I just love the look of this tent so so so much. I highly recommend this tent!!! P.S. Although in the tent bag it includes many stakes, I would recommend buying these stronger and longer black stakes (like #30 ones) from Snow Peak to make sure the tent stay in place in windy situations.

Not only beautiful, also incredibly functional

4 person tent, can stand at the center point up to 6'1. Self standing with option to add guy lines for added stability. 4 windows and doors so you can see out of every side-- which is the best feature. We were out for the first time in heavy wind and this thing saved our tails! Super wind resistant and provides insulation from the outside temps. It's also the most beautiful tent I've ever seen.

I love this tent!

I love this tent! I am a solo camper, but I bought this big guy because it looked easy to set up by myself, roomy, versatile and dependable. It exceeded all of my expectations, and provides great protection, durability and flexibility when the weather doesn't cooperate. I don't usually choose to go camping in bad weather, but bad weather sometimes finds you none the less. On my recent outings I encountered thunderstorms, rain and high wind. I was SO impressed that I was able to set this tent up by myself (including getting the rainfly on) in sustained 17 mph winds with gusts of 30+ mph and it only took me about 15 minutes (not including guy lines). When the rain started, it kept me and all my stuff bone dry. In fair weather, you can open all the doors, close the screens and enjoy great views and gentle breezes while being protected from bugs. This is not an instant-up tent and does take one person about 15-20 minutes to set up, but it is an easy 15 once you get a system down. If I had to offer one criticism, it is that the zippers on the doors get a little finicky around the curves. No major problems or failures because of this yet, but it is a bit disappointing. With that said, if you are looking for a tent that is high quality, roomy, versatile, sturdy, reliable, and easy enough for one person to set up, I highly recommend this tent.

The Beast

This tent is a beast and exactly what I was looking for when I picked up a car camping set up for extended overland fly fishing adventures. I wanted something that had actual livability in the event of inclement weather. Something that would hold up to harsh conditions. Lastly, something visually appealing. This ticked all the boxes. First trip out, we got over three inches of rain over a continuous 13 hour period, complemented by sustained heavy winds. Not a drop inside, nor any worries of structural integrity as I sat inside, at a table, and tied flies in peace. Once the sun came out, the multiple windows and doors were phenomenal for a breezy, midday nap. Setup and takedown take a bit of time, but this is something best suited to park for multiple days, so it really wasn’t that big of a deal. Frankly, I’ve seen much cheaper tents in this size take longer to assemble. 10/10 would recommend!

Amazing all-around tent

This is just an amazing all-around tent. I bought it so I could fit mine and my husband's Helinox cots. It fits both the cots and an REI pack-away bin with still plenty of floor space. I'm 5'6" and can stand up in it comfortably and I love that I can make it have an awning to sit under. If you open all the sides it helps keep yourself and the tent cool. Something I also loved, that I never seen advertised, is the 2 big doors (there are 4) have it so you can zip the tent flap almost all the way but fold the bottom of it up to still allow air through but still have the privacy. I will say thay animals also seem to love it, we have had a squirrel try to break in and have had a snake lying under our awning and birds try to build a nest between the rainfly and tent body. So if you don't love critters maybe it's not for you.

Planning on buying a second

I spent months researching a tent and I'm glad I did. This meets my requirements and exceeds my expectations. I can close every opening in this tent and choose how I want it ventilated. The zippers are phenomenal and if it gets caught it does not stay stuck or rip anything. It also seems to held up well in heavy winds as well as torrential rains.

Love the views, solid rain fly.

Lifetime backpacker but getting older and my wife wanted something for car camping that she didn’t have to crawl into. We both love it! Well built, spacious for two, with open views in all directions, The fly can be battened down quickly should weather get inclement in the middle of the night. Our first time out with it there was a three day weather system that brought heavy rains. We stayed completely dry. The fly does a great job repelling water and protecting the tent interior. It appears to have a coating that is wind and rain proof. I have been backpacking and camping for over fifty years. Sometimes I sleep outside for more than six months a year. I have had many, many tents. This is one I love. Perfect for car camping but I would have no qualms bringing it on a canoe trip if I planned on spending several days in one spot.

Palace for 2 People, Views on all Sides

Got it for a 4 night trip in the Adirondacks. Set it up for the first time on site, had no trouble with my partner. The first night there was a terrible thunderstorm, rain poured down for 6 hours. Not a drop got into the tent, even though we didn't apply the seam seal that was suggested. We loved that there are windows on all four sides, and that they are still usable when the rainfly is on. It's also great that it comes with poles to create an awning. I only have a few quibbles: The guylines for the awning are a little tricky to figure out. The stakes are also a little basic, but were totally fine. Lastly, a $8 green tarp from Harbor Freight is great for a footprint (fits perfectly width wise, 2 inches narrower). Don't think you have to spend $265 for Snow Peak's footprint/blanket combo.

Great Car Camping Tent

A perfect car camping tent for 2-3 people. We use it for 2 adults mainly but sometimes with an additional teenager. The setup is easy and takes less than 10 minutes to setup or takedown. There is plenty of headroom for myself at 5'9". Floor space was still roomy after the addition of a Exped MegaMat Duo 10. We love the 4 doors with bug screen on each panel. The 2 upper vents at can be closed is a great addition. Construction and Quality has been holding up great after 4 trips in 6 months.
