Amazing Parka
I used this parka for a trip to Mongolia in January the weather it got below -20 most of the time I was in county. this parka performance was prefect it keep me work and endured the elements f freezing temperatures and wind.
Warm and Stylish! Must Buy!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I adore my new North Face McMurdo Parka. It is by far my most warm parka. I am from NYC and it gets very cold during the winter months. This 600 down fill in this parka is very insulating but it also feels lightweight as well. The attention to detail of this parka is incredible. The stitching is amazing, the color options are great, and it looks flattering on all body types! There is also ample pockets to store your necessities, the faux fur hood can be detached, and there is even a trusty mask that can protect your face from the wind as well! This is a must buy for anyone that lives in a cold climate!! I think this coat outperforms some of the luxury $1000+ parkas on the market right now!
Not enough features for the price
The jacket was oversized, even after I ordered one size down . There were no waist cinch cords which lets the cold air in. The pockets were completely unlined, I'd expect some fleece lining atleast for an expensive jacket. The hood is not removable, even though the fur edging on the hood was. It makes a lot of noise when moving around, it is the 600D material as per my understanding. Plenty pockets though. Six outside and one inside. I plan on returning it, had high hopes for it based on reviews but it won't suit my needs. Also, the reviews are pulled from NF website so the reviews are not exclusively written by REI customers.
Toasty Warm Parka, HOWL
The day I bought my McMurdo Parka I sat down by the Clark Fork River on a brisk late afternoon and I stayed toasty warm until the blue light of evening was upon me. Wonderful, it allows me to stay out in Nature longer and warmer.
And.. had to cut open the coat.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The material next to the inside zipper pocket got caught in the zipper. It broke the zipper. I had to literally cut through the fabric with a large knife in order to open the zipper and get my wallet and other items out of the coat pocket. The material effectively locked up the zipper. A new coat and I have to cut it up to get the pocket open. Garbage design.
Definitely recommend this Parka
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned this Parka for 2 years now and I can't wait for winter to wear it every year. I absolutely LOVE this Parka. It is so warm, and breaks all wind, even the coldest arctic air will not get through this jacket when buttoned up to the chin.
Warm without being bulky
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My youngest hates to be cold. We have been looking for a coat that is comfy and warm without being bulky. This coat has great pockets and has kept them warm all winter!
Amazing parka.
I have the cryos expedition gtx parka 800 from many years I wanted something new I got the McMurdo it's an amazing parka very light. -7 Celsius very warm.
Feather comes coming out within 1 month of use
Within one month of use the feathers have started coming out of the jacket. It is a brand new jacket and lint comes out of the fabric around the wrist
Not like the former versions
In no way am I trying to insult company NorthFace. I've been a customer for over 20 years. I have always praised their products. In my honest opinion, this new version isn't your best work. It feels more like a shell material this time around. I'm a big dude. 6'4 275lbs. I desire something more durable, like your previous version of the McMurdo. This one makes me feel like I need to be extra careful not to snag it on something every time I move. The Velcro seems so weak. I hope in the future, you'll recognize you had an awesome parka and revert back to the old model. I know with time comes change, but if it isn't broken...don't fix it.
