Lightweight and waterproof

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have one of the older versions of this coat in the storm color which I purchased for hiking in Ireland. Wanted something lightweight and waterproof to stuff in my backpack and still leave plenty of room and this fit the bill. The blue grey color also went with everything on a limited luggage trip. I have worn the jacket many, many times since then as I hike with my two dogs daily rain or shine. It's great when it's hot but rainy as this is pretty breathable and the hood works well. Since then I recently purchased a newer version of this jacket in the flashlight color and I love it more! Has an extra pocket in the chest area and the armpit zippers are in the right place which is something people complained about.

Waterproof yes but...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wore this on a trip to South America. Withstood the rain but it didn't dry in the refugio and moisture seemed to soak through to the inside overnight. Outside did feel dry but it felt very damp on my skin in the morning. Even with that it was warm enough with only light layers under and 30-40° temps. I like the stretch, lack of noise, and extreme light weight compared to other rain jackets. Bought one size up to ensure plenty of space for layers and that worked well. Not at all crazy about the exaggerated flair at hips. I'm curvy but this seemed more than necessary.

Burned for Xmas thank you mountain hardware. Ouch

I bought my daughter in law this jacket. Instead of being able to trade it for the right size, apparently you just had her send it back. Now it would appear I should pay almost twice as much for the jacket and send her another. I really wish I could afford this and hope my new daughter in law will understand. So thanks to what appears to be your policy, no xmas for us thanks to mountain hardware. That was the third jacket like that last year, I bought from you. So I am hoping you will notice I am a good customer and help me out.

Great jacket

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I own one gore tex jacket, but I wanted something for emergency use. Small and light, so I can keep it in my backpack and use it as windbreaker and rain jacket on my hikes, travels, biking, or everyday use. And this jackets seems really great. It's really stretchy, good for any activity, and small. I haven't really used it in heavy rain, so I can't say anything about waterproofness. But seem pretty breathable and windproof. I bought yellow color and I really like this color and fit. It will look good on pictures in mountains.

Perfect for a shell jacket!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was initially nervous to purchase this product because one of the only reviews that I found online said that the pit zips were uncomfortable and useless. Thankfully I bought it anyway! There is nothing uncomfortable at all about the jacket and the zips are perfect for venting. The jacket seems true to fit. I’m 5’5’’ and 120 lbs. I got a women’s medium so that I could wear layers under it. If I was not going to wear layers under it I would only get a small, but even without layers the medium isn’t really too large.

Not rainproof. Material pilling in one spot.

I got this because my husband has the men's version and he loves it. I am so disappointed with it. I took it to Iceland and got soaked through in the first rain. The jacket didn't repell rain at all! It socked through everywhere! I wore it hiking because it is a good windbreaker. The material under the left arm is pilling now. Only in that spot. The MH products I have purchased lately have been terrible. I don't think I'll be buying MH items in the future with the poor quality I'm seeing.

Finally got my coveted jacket

So, my co-workers all have this jacket - and I've been coveting it for a year. Finally, I broke down and made the purchase. I love how lightweight it is, all the little features, the stretch, and yes, it's waterproof. I keep it packed up and take it to work with me (outfitters) just in case. This will be my kayaking jacket, hiking jacket, out-about-time jacket. Purchased the fiery red. It's a fantastic red - and a nice departure from my uniform wardrobe of black, grey, green, blue.

Disappointed and Misled

This jacket will repel light rain for the first 5 minutes, but if you're expecting to spend more time in the rain, beware that this jacket will get absolutely soaked through. I spent the day in the rain yesterday, and within the first hour the jacket and my clothing underneath were absolutely drenched. As an avid hiker and climber, this jacket will not be making the cut on future adventures. Less mountain hardwear more city streetwear in my experience.

Not waterproof but a nice wind shell

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off, this jacket is not waterproof. I bought it last fall and wore every day on my bike commute in Portland. It does well in a light drizzle. It cannot handle sustained rain. It fits well, is well designed, and makes a nice windshell. I will still wear it often. But it is NOT waterproof, forcing me to go buy something else for the backcountry. Huge bummer; hurts Mountain Hardware in my eyes a lot.

Ozomic jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was tired of rainjackets/goretex that made me wonder why I was wearing it when it was raining. It seemed like I wet inside the other jackets, so why bother wearing when raining. I went hiking with friends, it was a warmer day. It started raining and we all put on rainjackets. After an hour it stopped raining. My new jacket was dry inside. The only one in the group whose jacket was dry inside.
