Perfect Do It All Skiing Backpack
I'm a father of 3 and an advanced skier that goes on a ski trip every year with some buddies. I needed a chairlift friendly backpack that can help when I'm the pack mule when skiing with my family that can also serve when in the backcountry out west. My requirements were something in the 20L range (perfect size for my needs), separate pocket for avalanche tools, insulated hydration sleeve, quality hip belt, glove friendly zippers, and limited loose straps (hate having them flopping around too much). After buying and returning a number of cheaper competitor packs, I finally purchased the Kamber, and can now fairly confidently say it's the best backpack on the market for the skier who needs a do it all pack. It is on the pricier end, but it is so worth the money.
Awesome pack for Skiing
Awesome pack for skiing and doubles during the week for a laptop and miscellaneous stuff for work. Best part is a part of me feels like I am going skiing, even though I'm headed to work.
Most comfortable ski pack I've had
Used this for the first time about a month ago. Most comfortable bag I've ever used. I'm an intermediate skier and I honestly forgot I was wearing it it's so comfy. 10/10
Pack fit so poorly I
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pack fit so poorly I thought I purchased the female model by mistake. The Kamber needs to be a bit taller, the waist straps were around my belly button not my waist.
A pack with lots of uses
Winter pack ,lots of pockets and room . I even fitted my ski helmet in it. Also can use a hydration pack. Recommend for hiking, skiing .
Purchased as gift for my
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased as gift for my nephew He says "you nailed it, checks all the boxes" It has more features than he knew He loves it😀♥️
I have regrets.
I’m honestly disappointed and shocked for what I’m about to say. Although I haven’t applied this bag for skiing yet, this has got to be the biggest letdown in outdoor bag purchases I’ve ever made. The bag is so narrow on the bottom it can’t stand up by itself. Empty or packed. I find it constantly falling over and having to sit on the ground in order to sort through it. It’s either not properly supported or ergonomically unbalanced. To add insult to injury, the zipper system is flawed. Since it has 2 separate zipper openings, it’s the UI of sorting through the bag itself is a nightmare. I wish they both opened from the same side. I now have to use a different sorting workflow when using this bag. All of the loops bunched together don’t help either. Maybe this will be a good ski/hiking bag. Time will tell. The 20L, hip support and insulated shoulder strap is what got me. But for every day use to/from the gym and normal life is an absolute nightmare. If this bag could stand up by itself on the ground without having me come to all 4s to sort through the compartments, I wouldn’t be writing this 1 star review. So disappointing for my first Osprey bag in 15+ years of outdoor experience.
Great start with room for improvement
First off thank you Osprey for putting out a backcountry bag! Let’s get into it… PROS;A snow shedding back panel, smart helmet carry location and large goggle compartment are probably the 3 best thought out features of this bag. As runner up features, the zipper pulls are large and easy to grab with gloves (have not tried mittens). The cargo straps tuck away nice and clean so they don’t get caught on trees, rocks, or even the chair lift. The 20 L is plenty large for me at the resort when I bring my jetboil set up, layers, food and misc gear. The zippered waist straps are a great touch for fast grab gear. CONS: Great thinking on a zippered pocket for the bladder hose. However, it is not insulated. Big oversight. If the average temp you experience on the hill is below freezing point most of the day, the hose will freeze. So go ahead and buy insulation for the hose. The bottom of both main compartments are wetting out, please revisit with a stronger rip stop fabric with possibly Kevlar and wax welded seams (or seamless) to keep water out. If the bag is not PACKED, the vertical snowboard carry will end up tilting the snowboard quite a ways back so as you walk your calves hit the tail of the board (I am 5ft 4in). Taking this pack off jumps and rails is fine after you figure out that the pack shifts a bit and puts you off balance (learning curve). BOTTOM LINE: Overall yes I recommend this pack for beginner backcountry folks and even resort folks looking for convenience on the hill. Just be on the look out for new renditions of this model because I believe this is only mk. #1.
