It’s a good jacket, especially for the cost but it’s mostly a cool, not rainy or windy day. The cut is boxy and allows air to enter unless the waist drawstring is cinched down, which starts looking weird if you have wider shoulders and a smaller waist. I wouldn’t call it “gear” but it is a decent car to the store jacket.

A Very Good Daily and Mid Layer

After losing a lot of weight and never really having a nice jacket, I decided I would finally make an meaningful investment for this winter - and many more winters to come. I was shocked and impressed at the light weight of the jacket. The insulating properties are average for this type of jacket. I live in Florida. However. during the winter, our temperatures at night can easily and consistently be 30 and 40 degrees F, in January (about 0 - 4 C, for the rest of the world that uses 'science numbers'). If active, per the temperatures I listed above, no layering may be needed. Though, I typically wear a shirt and then my HH fleece at the mid layer, for this mid-layer jacket. My only two gripes are minor in nature. The sleeves tend to be about 25mm too long. However, maybe by design this is intended. I am not sure. When I wear one or two items below the jacket, the extra length of the arms is no longer an issue. Without the extra layers, the sleeves almost roll into the base of my palms. This can be dangerous in certain applications. My last gripe - and the most annoying thing - about the jacket is the YKK zipper. I've used YKK zippers in this past. This is consistently the worst experience with a 'quality' zipper I've ever had. It's extremely hit-or-miss, per se. The male-end of the sipper simply will not align into the open ends of the two zippers, sometimes. I can literally try ten times to create proper alignment for zipping. Other times, I can align the male-end to the open sides of the zipper with no isssue(s). But at least eighty percent of the time, I am spending at least twenty or thirty seconds to properly align all the elements to crate a successful zipping pattern. Despite those issues, this is almost the best jacket I have purchased. Below, I'm 5' 6'' / 168 cm. Weight is 145 pounds / 65.7 kg Waist is 29'' / 73.6 cm Chest is 36'' / 91.4 cm

Love the look, built like hot garbage.

Attractive jacket, feels great to wear, but man is it poorly constructed. 2 zippers got caught on loose fabric on the first day. Pocket zipper so badly jammed I had to cut a piece of the jacket to get it cleared. Inner and outer shell need to be more taught so the zippers don’t ruin a $200 jacket.

Lacks durability

Less than 3 weeks after purchasing it and stitching has come undone in multiple places on the jacket. Insulation is also leaking from the seams all over the jacket. I have yet to take it on a serious hike or expose it to any incliment weather. Beautiful looking jacket but extremely let down by the durability and quality.

I'm torn on this jacket

Like the title says, I'm torn on this jacket. On the one hand I had it for a year and half and loved it, wore it all the time, took it camping, fishing, hiking, etc. It was definitely my go to jacket for weather between 30-50F. But it's fallen to pieces as the stitching failed in several spots, the weirdest one being the inside of the pocket where I can now reach my hand inside the jacket and touch the insulation. I really want to just buy another one cause I loved it that much, but it's hard to justify when I only lasted so long.

The new Nano-puff, imo.

My nano puff of 10+ years was long overdue for replacement. I'm a standard medium build and usually find patagonia sizing consistent. the current nano puff fit long and downsize fit too small. Most noticeable change was the sleeves, which went all the way to my finger-tips when extended and elastic cuffs were baggy. I narrowed my jacket scope to the expedition and arctyrx atom, which was too over-engineered and slim techy for me. I can't attest to durability and longevity, but the expedition has a classic synthetic jacket fit/feel and the elastic cuffs are snug. It feels a smidge less insulted than the nano puff in a quality lightweight way. If you aren't happy with the current cut of the nano puff I highly recommend trying this jacket it on.

The zipper is fine.

This jacket is just like the wonderful Mountain hardware one without the hood. To me it is a perfect mid layer for skiing. Large breast internal pocket and two good side pockets. Elastic wrist seals to keep out the snow. A lot of people are complaining about the zipper. It is perfectly fine just backwards. I am left-handed so I actually find this to be a welcome change and I don’t even notice it after a few zips. It just adds to the uniqueness of the jacket which I think looks better than the ubiquitous Patagonia and North face skinny puffy jackets. The sew lines across the shoulders give it almost a fitted motorcycle jacket feel which looks cool. I ski in this with it over a non-cotton base layer and my shell jacket over top of this.

good jacket, lanky fit

A good take on a classic moderate warmth synthetic insulated jacket. Seems well made, comfortable, and reasonably warm. I’m 5”10 185 and athletic. No size fits me well. Shoulders on large are too slim. Arms on xl too long, but that’s what I settled on. Designed for tall slim folk.

Looks great, but very delicate

Like another customer said, this is an attractive jacket but it's waaaay too delicate. Bought it last year - in large part because the colors and matte finish are really nice imo - but had to exchange it because one of the seams came loose. Exchanged it for the same version/color only to have a few of the seams come loose again (for reference I have the same puffer style jacket from Patagonia and have not had this issue). Additionally, have had issues with the nylon fabric getting caught in the zippers on the pockets. I've only ever used the jacket for around town stuff - not for hiking or camping.

overall great jacket but runs small

Bought this jacket for my husband in "terra cotta brown" color which I'd best describe as burnt orange. Typically he wears size L, but this was too snug on him. Sizing up to XL worked out perfectly and also left some room for layering underneath. The stitch pattern is very attractive and different from most other brands I looked at. Quite warm but not bulky. Works OK on its own but seems best as a layering piece. Not for very rainy/wet conditions, in which case an outer shell is needed.
