Black Diamond  Cirque Gloves

Recently went on a backcountry trip in the tetons. I brought these and the stance mitts. I never needed to use the stance mittens. But I'm very glad I brought them. They pack down small. And if I did need them, they would have been there. The hybrid glove was perfect. I was rarely cold. And I only skinned up without gloves on for a little while. The fit is a bit tighter than the stance. But I'm also use to mittens... not a tight fitting glove. Overall, id buy these 10xs over. If you need a glove that is warm but breathable AND can convert to a Mitten for extra warmth, get them!

Just got these to fill the need of a light, dexterous glove for touring with some weather resistance. The fit is perfect, the best of any of these lightweight gloves I've tried. The mitt pullover is a nice treat, and the versatility is nice to have in the backcountry. I also like that the back of the glove is synthetic/softshell-esque, and not full leather. I have had issues with gloves like that getting too damp from sweat, but no issues here. The only flaw is that the gauntlet is a bit long, so much so that you cannot wear a watch (I like to wear my altimeter watch to keep track of elevation gain). You can wear the watch over the glove, which is what I have resorted to, but it impedes pulling the mitten over. Just something to consider, not a dealbreaker for me as the fit is amazing!

My hands are almost always cold when ski touring. I routinely have to swap between thin and thick gloves depending on the temp, wind, and effort level. Not any more! At first I thought the little hood would not provide enough warmth because it is only a very thin layer of insulation, but it actually works! Now I can easily add or remove warmth without breaking stride on the skin track. I did have to learn to remove the hood before trying to grab small things like zippers or snacks because the pertex material is too smooth to get a grip on things. I also recommend sizing up. I chose XL and glad I did.

Trail running, nordic skate, backcountry skiing are my main winter activities and I use these in most conditions from warm sunny to snowing. I appreciate the ability to peel back the mits when I'm pushing a high heart rate pace. The gloves fit snug and provide nice dexterity. They're incredibly light and remarkably warm for their stature. I have pushed their limits though, resort skiing in a nuking storm. After 4 hours of skiing and riding chairs the gloves were soaked and hands getting cold, of course not their intendedpurpose. I thought they ran small and had to exchange for an XL, which still have a good snug fit. Love these, will buy again, and would recommend for winter endurance activities.

There is no way I would use these gloves for skiing. The first time I wore them in a light rain the mitten leaked on the left hand. These are a light weight glove that require a liner to hold in even a small amount of heat. The concept of a mitt over gloves is a good one but the mitt material needs to be more substantial and waterproof.

I have been looking for a light weight back country accent glove for years. Finally this one fits the function. Hot too hot, and just warm enough that your hands don't get cold, and when it gets a little chilly you just pull out the over mit sleeve and your hands are warm again. Very functional and well thought out design. The fit is spot on to the sizing chart. Only downside is the mit fabric doesn't provide good grip. It would be nice to have a little pull tab on the mittens to make it easier to get them out of the storage pocket.

BD keeps making gloves that do what I think they will. You may think that's trivial but among the glove makers in the world they seem to stand out. The Cirque has great felxibility and feel. Grip is great and I don't get bunching under the palm. These are super easy to use with a locking carabiner or a finicky zipper. Super impressed with the wear patch on the inside of the thumb and forefinger. Worn them 10 times already on varying tour lengths in the PNW. Gotta have a light glove with wind protection when you ski in the slop!

A great glove. Unlike some others (Cirque and Softshell mitt) they have a cuff that covers your wrist. Add a nice mix of warmth, breathability and grip and they would be on my hands most of the time. Also great: cover for the thumb. So many convertible mitts leave the thumb bare. But, no touch screen capability. The whole idea with thin gloves is being able to keep them in all the time: that means dexterity and good touch screen capability for navigation and picture on a phone.

I used this glove on a recent week long backcountry hut skiing trip, and they were incredibly versatile for skinning and skiing. In temps between 10-20*F they were breathable and not so warm on the up that I was sweating, and the hooded glove was perfect for transitions and descending. The printed logo on the gloves wore off after one day of use, which doesn't affect its functionality at all. I appreciate the reflective print on the mitt.

We love this glove so much. We use it for everything. When we bought we bought for an avy two day course in SLC. We wore the glove the whole time in January class because it was perfect for skinning and adding the puffy over when it got cold -was a good balance. Only suggestion to BD is to add a second nose wipe area to the 2nd finger. Wiping your nose with medial thenar causes one to lift the whole shoulder upward. :)
