Very Nice Knife
Very happy with this knife. My first Benchmade. Nicely balanced. Was a little concerned the mini would be too small but it feels good in my hand. I wear a large glove. The light weight is incredible. 1.5 ounces. Super light and you can barely tell it's in your pocket.
Perfection in pocket knife design
Top quality steel in a size above a pen. The solid build is the gold-standard in lightweight design. A weighty knife in my pocket typically bothers me all day long. This knife is effortless to carry and suffers absolutely no compromises in accomplishing that important goal. It is simply the best pocket knife I've ever owned by a good margin, even among my other BM models in this form factor.
EDC vs outdoor adventure
Nice every day carry knife. More than a pen knife but not enough for demands of serious outdoor demands. Can open food packs etc. but if needed to cut heavy line or make kindling it is a bit small. Go with its big brother for wilderness treks.
Great design, poor execution/attention to detail
This seems to be a common theme with Benchmade knives. Ordering online means you roll the dice on: blade coating, blade centering, blade grind, backspacer shaping (mine had fragments come off), and lockup. With a lot of additional effort in exchanges and/or sending it to Benchmade, you can get it right, but it's a serious pain to endure for an overpriced knife. All that said, once set, it is great and this mini-bugout is a great EDC.
Perfect Everyday Carry Knife
I was looking for something I wouldn't mind carrying everyday and would clip to my pocket but still allow me to access items in my pocket. I found it with the mini bugout. It is so light you hardly know it is there. I have accidentally washed it 4 or 5 times and it still operates flawlessly. The blade stays sharp after almost daily use. I really am impressed with this knife as an everyday carry.
Beware!
When you receive your Benchmade BE SURE to check for signs of a counterfeit: logo, blade, handle texture, blade texture, clip, etc. I purchased this item awhile back and just realized it was a fake when I compared it to a real Mini Bugout at another REI. I should have been more diligent when I received the knife and that's on me. With the purchase being so long ago, I also understand that REI is unable to refund/exchange. I don't hold that against them at all. I also understand that items can make it past QA inspections; accidents happen. I'm mostly posting this here for other buyers, so that they know to check their order as soon as it arrives and return/exchange before they make the same mistake I did as they may also receive a counterfeit.
REI and Benchmade knives...the absolute best!
Another awesome Benchmade product! I highly recommend REI as THE PLACE to purchase Benchmade Knives!
not a cheap option
Great for cooking and eating on the trail, so light I forget its there. If your looking at benchmade this probably isn't your first but it will probably get the most pocket time.
Good edc
Good edc pocket knife. Very light but sturdy, blade is sharp and works well. A bit pricey but quality seems really nice.
Very lightweight
My only thing is that it’s *too* lightweight. Ideal for ultralight backpacking, yeah, but if I’m trying to quickly use it at work it’s not the same as the mini Griptillian, which has a nice balanced weight for easy deploment, this one I have to delicately unclip and open, not as satisfying
