I have become a great fan of Hook One One., From my first pair of hiking boots with incredible comfort and lightweight to their line of running shoes. I recently bought my first pair of Clifton 8s and found it as good as my previous favorite Clifton 7 model. It is very lightweight be=ut the heel feels even softer on my feet. I no longer run but these are an absolutely wonderful pair of walking shoes, I finally tossed out my worn out pair of Clifton 7s after about 3000 miles of pandemic walking (at least that is what my Apple Fitness app tells me. The Clifton 8s may be as good if not better. They are certainly a bit more comfortable.
These shoes lasted 10 runs and the bottom outer corners were completely worn off. I thought this was an anomaly with Hoka's. I bought a pair of Speed Goat 4's. Same thing. I read a review on "how durable" these Clifton's were and they were exactly as bad as the Speed Goats. If you think spending $150 for 10 runs is worth then these shoes will suit just fine. Each run was between 3-5 miles too. Not like I was running 10 miles each time. I don't know how Hoka gets away with selling shoes that last 10 runs.
These shoes were returned for two reason: 1. The shoe has a high arch made of an abrasive material that bothered the inside arch area of my foot as soon as I put them on. I have been running in Hoka shoes for a long time and have never had a pair that fit this poorly. 2. REI sent me a used pair of shoes that had wear, dirt and animal hair on the soles of the shoes. To add insult to injury, I had to pay the postage to return used, dirty and ill fitting shoes. I've been a REI member longer than most REI employees have been alive .I've been very disappointed in the actions and the lack of good service I've experienced in the last couple of years.
I purchased these in Sept., 2021 primarily for road walkabouts - about 20 miles a week. They fitted well, were light, and were comfortable. But by December the soles were completely worn out. I've included a picture. So unless you plan on replacing your shoes every three months, I would not recommend these.
Do not wear after eating the most fettuccini alfredo and drinking the least amount of water in your life. Overall great shoe, great tongue balance, no blisters. Ran 100 miles and lost a toe, not the shoes fault. Don't recommend running.
These are the most cushy, comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Keep in mind that I'm wearing them for walking, as I stand on my feet and walk around at my job all day long. I knew they were "running" shoes, but I'd also heard of their comfort, and once I tried them on, I was more impressed than I ever imagined. I was so impressed, I bought a second pair long before the first pair started to wear out. It was posted elsewhere that these run either a bit small, or a bit narrow. I did not find that to be the case at all, but if there's any doubt just go into your local REI and try on a couple pairs.
I use these shoes for my daily runs. They have been great! A little quick to wear on the outsole rubber but the run quality has not changed, only the appearance. If you like high stack height and a more cushioned feel, then these are great! I have also worn them to work as a school teacher occasionally and they performed great on my feet all day. Only downside is I would not want to wear these shoes when weight training or anything that would put large strain on the ankles. The stack height may mess with that a little bit.
Started wearing these back with the breakthrough Clifton 3 and have mostly stayed with them through the years. These are my workhorse shoes that I use to log most all of my long runs. They're suitable for tempo runs as well and, when I've come to marathon race-day with an injury, these were the shoes I used to get through the day. I wear arch supports and they fit fine and the extra wrap up from the outer sole keeps the arch supports from cutting through the mesh as they have on some other shoes; the arch supports do cut through the gusseted tongue, but that's not an issue.
Definitely one the most comfortable shoes ever. No pain through my work day on concrete. Left shoes squeaks though. Sounds like I’m stepping on a small duck every where I go
I just walked or ran around 2KM for 4-5 days a week but the quarter lining of inside of this shoes began to wear off. I'll return it.
