I am a big fan of the thumb holes on the sleeves. The print on the sleeves look nice when I paired it with a vest. I would size down, I wear an xl so a 14 would have fit me better. As a base layer it kept me cozy and dry during an outdoor jog at 10 above.
So far, this shirt has been great for colder weather outside. Living in a colder climate, I appreciate the thicker material but it is also very breathable which helps me stay comfortable while being active. It's been holding up well to use, which I also think is critical with outdoor gear. The material has decent stretch- I sized this up about 2 sizes from what I'd usually wear and it's even worked well when 7 months pregnant, however, I think this will even work great beyond that. I'm not in love with the design on the sleeves but that's really the only criticism I have about the shirt so far. Paired with a windproof outer layer, I've been plenty happy!
This will be a go-to for winter. The marino wool is soft and warm. I have very sensitive skin, so sometimes even merino wool is a bit irritating for me. This was no problem! It's wonderfully soft, and I was extra cozy with the thumb holes. I'm about 5" but not necessarily petite, so I'm very happy that this top has a good amount of stretch to fit snuggly for being under layers without being too tight. I have a size 8 which is perfect for my preference, but I do think with the stretch the sizing is forgiving and you could order larger for a looser fit if that's your preference. I also really like the simple print on the sleeves. I have the Lily Black which is actually more of a navy blue. It's fun but still plain enough that I'd consider it a basic that'd complement almost any outfit.
I am a size 16 with 41” bust and 36” waist and wear an XL in everything. The size 16 is comfortable to the point of being almost loose - I could have gone to the 14 for a snug fit. I love the thumb holes AND the fact that the cuff is a little thicker to comfortably hike up to my elbow. Flat seams are very nice and the length is great - covers my butt! Will be perfect for wearing around the house or into the mountains as a base layer in winter, and it’s first test will be a backpacking trip to Alaska. I love it so much I’m going back for a second while they’re on sale, even though it’ll be the same pattern! Thank you for making cozy wool for us ladies sandwiched between straight and plus sizes!
A great do-it-all base layer that always surprises me with its warmth and versatility! From early-morning frosty dog walks to night runs to even a cold tennis match, this base layer does it all. I also appreciate the subtle yet noticeable style - it's nice to have a base layer that is both functional and fashionable! I will say it's surprisingly warm - I kept adding too many layers at first until I realized just how warm this base layer is. I'd highly recommend this top for any and all outdoor winter activities, especially those with an "apres" where you may not be able to change - this shirt was the perfect night run-to-dinner shirt - I was warm and comfortable during and post-run - and (I like to think) fashionable!
I just returned from a week long backpacking trip to Alaska that was wet and cool. This later didn’t come off me at all - hikes in it during the day and slept in it at night. It somehow didn’t smell at all by laundry time even though I hadn’t worn deodorant or showered for a week straight. The top did not really stretch or pill at all, which surprised me. I had never heard of Wild Rye before and am delighted I found them. It’s worth noting that I ordered my normal size, 16, and it was loose for a base layer; it fits more like a relaxed fit crew shirt. It didn’t cause any problems but is definitely generously sized. I could easily have sized down (and might do so to get another top while they’re still in stock). Love the length covering the butt and the thumb holes as well as the stout sleeve cuffs which allowed me to roll up the sleeves and keep them at my elbows all week without stretching to the point of falling down.
I wear this baselayer all day, every day in the winter. It holds up to heavy use and repeated washings and is a perfect weight for wearing solo on uphill bootpacks and under a puffy or shell on the downhills. Wool fabric doesn't smell on multi-day yurt trips yet also, magically, doesn't itch and feels super smooth and comfy against skin. 12 out of 10 would recommend.
This shirt is soft and thicker than my other merino shirts. The raglan sleeves are long enough for me to easily use the thumb holes (I am 6' tall with long arms). Overall, it is high quality.
I wore this base layer on an extended walk with my son in 38° weather and it kept me warm without being sweaty! The cut and fit of this is extremely flattering, and I love a raglan style print. The thumb holes kept the sleeves down full length of my arm especially when putting a jacket on over it, and it was still a cute style when popping in to a coffee shop for a snack break without the jacket. I can definitely recommend this layering top for multiple uses!!
This is my favorite shirt now. It is soft, lightweight, and attractive. I love this shirt so much I bought it in every style.
