Not for my body shape
I love Toad&Co, especially the brand's dresses, but this one was a miss. The fabric was pretty clingy, and the cap sleeves were not flattering. The color was pretty, and I liked the overall idea of the dress, but didn't like the way it fit on my body (for reference, I wear a medium and have an hourglass figure). I think if you wear a X-Small, Small, or medium and have an athletic body with very toned arms, this would look great on you. But if you're curvier, this will cling in the wrong places, rather than drape gracefully. The color was beautiful (kind of darker aqua), but overall, the dress was not flattering on my body.
Comfortable and classy
I bought this dress from REI some years ago in black and size medium, my normal size with other well known stores. It was a mistake, but it was all by itself, so I grabbed it off of the sale rack. I still have it. It fits in the top, but is too tight in the bottom. Fast forward: this time, I got it right. I sized up and bought the color, hydro. The size large fits perfectly. I can even wear it without a bra, for super comfort in hot weather because it is double layered on top. The hydro color is way darker than the color pictured--more like a dark teal, which is fine with me. I love it. Now, I can actually wear it outside of the house.
Cute , Figure flattering
Great fit , very comfortable. I have 3 colors. I'm a size 10 and got the large , as I wanted a little looser fit in the tummy area. It hangs great, very slimming. Cap sleeves are cute , gives a little more arm coverage for a summer work dress. Not sure what the other reviewers are saying about an odd fit in the sleeve. Looks cute to me. also wear them just around on the weekend for running errands , etc. as they are so comfy. The Navy floral print was a little rougher material not as soft , so I returned that one, but the solid colors are great.
Fits a little strangely on the shoulders
I think I will keep this dress, but count me in with the other reviewers who say the cap sleeve/shoulder design fits oddly. I bought an XS, I’m 5’1” and 125 but most of my weight is in my lower half. It fits GREAT everywhere but at the sleeve...and as a short girl, I seldom find dresses that fit me proportionately. It actually hits above the knee on me, hooray! The fabric is nice quality, too. I just think that on my body type (very small bust, athletic shoulders) this sleeve design looks a bit silly...but it would probably flatter someone with narrower or more rounded shoulders pretty well.
Modest Summer Dress
Modest summer dress that I can wear around town. I returned the black because it is definitely a summery fit. I felt that the flowery patterns were better suited. I love the flowing dress… and the little pocket is great. The A line cut is very figure flattering. I am 5’4” 135# and the medium fits perfectly. The length hits right at my knees.
Poor Fit
This looked like exactly the kind of dress I can easily wear. Unfortunately after I tried it on I decided to return it. The fit was disappointing. I am 5’6 with a small build about 125 pounds. I have a slight pear shape in that my top is a AA size. This dress accentuated my round hips and lack of roundness at the top. Furthermore when I turned sideways I looked big! I loved the color and texture of the fabric but the fit is for a more youthful curvy build. So it was a poor fit. If you are more curvy this might be your dress.
Good enough and comfortable
I love the color of this green dress. The fit, for the most part is good and it feels well made. The top is a little odd, but I’m short waisted and a 36B, meaning my breasts rest higher up in tops than other women I know. So, if I pull it fully down, it shows more cleavage than I want and affects the waistline in a strange way, and if I leave it a little higher, the pleats are a little awkward, not terrible, just not quite right. The cap sleeves are cute, I only wish there was more fabric along the side of the top, I’m slightly aware of having to make sure the side of my bra isn’t showing, but that little pocket of fat between shoulder and breast does show from the side and that is unfortunate. Good enough to keep and cute enough, just not perfect.
Choose your color carefully
The Buckhorn Floral print is peach colored, and looked awful on me. I have blonde hair and yellow undertones to my skin, and this color made me look completely washed out. I'm exchanging it for the dark blue print. The material is also on the thin side and is not completely opaque on the bottom; I usually wear dark colored underwear, and my underwear could be seen through the fabric. I would have had to wear a slip. I am hoping the dark blue will eliminate this problem.
The PERFECT dress!
I can't emphasize enough how much I love this dress! It is easily the most flattering and comfortable dress I have ever found. I love it so much I bought it in both black and "hydro," which actually looks more green than blue in real life. I expected blue from the photos, but still like it. I tried getting it in the flowered print also but the armhole shapes were a bit inconsistent on that one so I returned it. The others are perfect though. I am 5'4" and 140lbs with a semi-athletic body type.
Nice dress, but didn’t fit me right
This dress is adorable! I got the chili color. I love love love it! I love the zipper pocket! So sad that it doesn’t fit. After reading the reviews I ordered an x small. I am 115# and 5 ‘3”. I just got the same brand in a skirt in an x small and that fit perfectly. It was too tight across the bust line. I agree with another reviewer- the sleeves are really cute but fit a little funny and a little uncomfortable. I am bummed because I really like this dress. Will have to return, unfortunately.
