Useful but overpriced, poor anti-theft security
Recently finished a 1900 mile trip with the swing base carrying the gear locker on the bottom and gear warrior basket on the top shelf (I purchased the basket at a Scheels during the trip as REI was out of stock around Memorial Day). The basket was handy but seems overpriced. Also the Yakima engineers didn’t think through anti-theft precautions very well. Sure you can lock the mounting brackets on the hitch carrier arms, but it only takes someone with a 5 mm Allen wrench to unscrew the 8 bolts and they have themselves a free basket. I’m considering getting anti-tamper bolts as a precaution. However I was able to use a 27 inch “bike lock” style cable and padlocked through the unused hole at the top of the top shelf. I also found a cargo net for $18 on Amazon that fit (no way am I paying $60 for Yakima’s) plus some NRS and ratchet straps to secure my cargo. Also bought the mount hardware from Yakima to mount the basket on crossbar (yes it’s the same basket as the skinny warrior). I have to remove one of the gearwarrior brackets to install one side of the crossbar brackets for it to fit, however. —>See my other reviews on the swingbase and gear basket for more tips.

Easy, versatile, but very expensive.

Simple and easy to get on and off the swing base. Seems very durable. I don't see any issues with it other than the price. Compared to regular hitch-mounted racks, this is very expensive. And that's before factoring in the even more expensive swing base, which is required. This is only worth it if you're going to take full advantage of the flexibility of the EXO system

Just bought this for my Rav4 and I no longer need a roof rack. This item is great. I can easily put whatever I want.Its easy to use, easy, easy and easy. Pretty light and feel durable.
