Not Reliable Enough for Backcountry
I took this Plug-and-Play system on a long backpacking trip, because I was persuaded that it (with the Flux bottle) was the best way to gather water and get it through a Sawyer Squeeze filter. I found pretty quickly that the flow is more constricted and slower than a screw-on connection. Then the little plastic click-in locking mechanism failed, which meant that the bottles had to be carefully held together while squeezing water through to keep dirty water from squirting over the clean bottle. The Flux bottles work fine for the gym, but this click-in system is just not sturdy enough to rely upon in the wild.
pretty much mandatory for the seeker bags
Add this cap to a 3 or 4L seeker reservoir, and you've got a really big storage capacity for filtered water. It connects to the hose that my katadyn gravity filter came with, meaning this can be left alone until it's filled up. For the reviewers who don't like the release (twist the ribs) the alternative is what's on the gravity filter, which sticks out and is just begging to get knocked off. Not shown in the pictures, but included, is a plug/lanyard that keeps stuff out of the port and holds the cap on. The plug is pretty neat in that it's too short to make the port leak, so it doesn't need an o-ring.
Almost perfect, will fit Sawyer/QuickDraw/BeFree
Adapter works well, and the click feature lets you know it's locked with a tactile click. The ONLY criticism is that the fins which must be slightly twisted counter-clockwise to release the click plug and/or filter adapter is difficult to do with one hand. You have to use one had to twist, and the other hand is used to stabilize the filter/adapter, so it won't fall into the dirt. Bigger fins might make this easier.
Works great but not on (cnoch minus the -h) bag.
Works great with no leaks. Even when nothing is plugged in. Does not work on (conch minus the -h) 42mm bag (which I love) because the soft base bends and bag 42mm opening leaks, not the Plug n Play. Works great with a Seeker bag and 28mm filters like the Platypus QuickDraw but the BeFree filters faster. It weighs nothing and can expand you filtering options.
Works like a charm
The plug and play cap along with the 28mm filter adapter allows me to use my Sawyer mini on my hydrapak bottles
Works great... when it works
I bought this cap last year for a backpacking trip. I was updating my water system from a hard-to-reach 3L camelbak reservoir to 2 SmartWater bottles with sport caps and this as a collapsible, refillable dirty water bag. Combined with the 28mm filter adapter and a sawyer squeeze filter, it worked great for the first 2 uses. After this, the turn-lock system became stuck, likely due to some suspended debris from the creek I used to fill it up with. This is even with the dirt cap installed. So does the cap work well? Yes, but as soon as a bit of debris makes its way into the turn-locking mechanism used to release attachments, it becomes junk. Too bad every backpacking trip I have ever taken involves dirt of some kind.

integrates with Katadyne BeFree gravity filter
works great. The 6L or 10L Katadyne BeFree gravity filter includes a quick disconnect at the end of the filtered water hose that clicks into the Plug-N-Play cap. Filtered water goes right into a HydraPak collapsible water bottle. Great system.
Compatibility, functionality, and sustainability!
I have been a Hydrapak customer for about 4 years, buying my first product from them (a 500mL soft flask) because it seemed like the best quality and was the most readily available option at the time. I was recently looking for a way to use this same 500mL soft flask as a mini hydration bladder in my sling bag. I found the Seeker Hydration Kit (a 42mm cap with a hose attached) to be sold out and was initially disappointed. However, I realized that this was because HydraPak is so awesome that they now offer a ton of different smaller parts to their customers so that they can piece together exactly what they need without having to buy extras that they don’t need. I was able to use the Plug n Play cap with my soft flask and my existing Plug n Play hose from my hydration bladder (the Shape Shift, which is also a fabulous product). It is a great setup that helps you use your existing gear together instead of having to buy a whole new set of gear. It is one thing for a company to claim that it promotes sustainability - but for a company to actually sell you all the individual parts you need instead of gaining more profit by selling something more expensive like the old Seeker cap/hose setup is just A+ in my book. Thank you Hydrapak for amazing, durable products that just work!
Works Perfect
Perfect solution to pair the Sawyer Squeeze with a hydra pack bladder. Comes with a small retaining band and plug that snaps into the cap just like the 28mm adapter. Clever way to keep the cap attached to the bladder. Quick disconnect seals tight with no leaks. Only complaint is the 28mm adapter is not included.
Game Changer!
For me, this cap is a game changer! It’s what allowed me to convert our 1 and 1.5L bottles into easily accessible water bladders for hiking. Combined with the tubes and bottles we now have a system that’s easier to clean, easier to fill up, easier to access, and easier to store than the traditional water bladder. The cap snaps in seamlessly to the tube and disconnects just as easily. Would highly recommend.
