Comfortable fit, distracting lenses
Fit was comfortable, FoV good, but the lenses reflected and refracted heavily on the inside. Whether in low or high light, back-lit, side-lit, front-lit, cupping my hands over the lenses, nothing made a difference: the lenses themselves or colored reflections were constantly visible in front of my eyes, so much so that I wondered if there was a protective piece of film on the lens (there wasn’t). Cleaning did not help. Could not try other pairs in store to see if it was just the model or the Reactiv lens, so had to return. Most people review these glasses highly on the internet, but at least one other person complained of the same experience.
Really happy with these
Wore them for the first time on the mountain hike today. Started out at 8am, it was still cloudy and grey out. Threw these on and enjoyed very little tinting but enhanced visibility due to the nature of high end sunglasses making everything look more colorful. The sun came out 30 min into my ride and the lens did it’s job and changed without me even being aware of it. I really have zero complaints with these. These are my first high end pair of sunglasses. I typically always wear regular sunglasses with black lenses. I love that I can wear the Fury’s in low light and sunny skies without having to take them off or swap lenses.
Multi-Sport Sunglass
I use the Fury for backcountry skiing, ski mountaineering, trail and road running, mountain biking, and for everyday life. I like how well the sunglass "breathes" (doesn't fog) while also providing wraparound full sun protection for the eyes. I recommend these for low to mid elevation activities, not for higher altitudes. The spectron four lenses are better for higher altitudes, check out the Julbo Shields for that.
Better than Oakleys by MILES!
Way better than expected. I've been an Oakley snob for the better part of 25 years, so these were the first non-Oakley sports sunglasses I've bought in over two decades. I bought these for the anti fog and photochromic properties since I would be using them for mountain biking and under my motorcycle helmet. Let me tell you that I was blown away by their weight, function, and style. Miles ahead of my Oakley Kato, Sutro, Sutro S, Radar Path, EV Zero, Flak Jacket, Holbrook, or Holbrook R. I bought all of those Oakley sunglasses for different uses and this one pair replaced them all!
Finally, glasses that actually fit!
I’ve had these glasses for about a month now. I’ve used them for hiking, running, biking, and boating. They’ve been great for everything I’ve put them through so far. They’re comfortable, lightweight, and you can wear them for hours on end. They stay on my face really well even when I’m moving around a lot or bending over. Before finding these glasses, I had trouble finding any sport sunglasses that weren’t giant on my face (I’m a woman with a narrow face). These fit and look like they were made to fit a narrower face. The only downside I’ve discovered so far was that the lenses seemed to scratch fairly easily. But it doesn’t really affect their performance yet. All in all, I definitely recommend these!
Pretty good glasses
I bought the REACTIV photochromic version of this product. I am primarily a road cyclist. The photochromic lens is quite nice and adjusts quickly to lighting conditions from dawn to dusk. I ride frequently the evening and they work well for that purpose. REI is not charging a premium at the moment for the photochromic option and that steered my decision. I have a couple of issues with these for road cycling that may ultimately cause me to return these. First - the plastic side piece is in your peripheral vision. I think that these would be better for mountain biking for that reason. Second - the reflections off of the inside of the lens can be distracting, especially when light is low.
Love these glasses!
I am very happy with these sunglasses. I've worn them during at least 4 bike rides so far, across varied weather conditions. They are light and comfortable and provide great protection from wind and sun. I haven't experienced the reflection issues mentioned in a few other reviews.
Happy with this purchase!
Great for morning rides where sunlight is minimal at the start and sunny for the end of the ride. Great field of view.
Great sunglasses, not what is advertised
I paid the premium price for reactiv lens. I really don’t see the difference with them honestly. I thought it would of been noticeable too. On the plus side, they are light and comfortable. I also think they work well in dusk riding.
Great for cycling
I wanted the Reactive 1-3 High Contrast, but REI doesn't seem to carry those anymore, so I reluctantly went for the Reactive 1-3 Light Amplifying lens. After a combo of gift cards, rewards and the annual member sale, these were only a few bucks, and I figured I'd try them out. I often commute by bike, and in the winter, I was using two pairs of glasses, clear lenses and sunglasses. With these, I only need one pair. I can see as well as clear lenses in the dark, and they darken as the sun comes up. I was worried the yellow light amplifying lenses would be hard on my sensitive eyes, but I've had zero issues. They do brighten things up, but my eyes stay relaxed. In addition, they are sooooo light and comfortable. My only minor issue is the style. I don't like how they look for everyday use. However, I did buy them specifically for cycling, and all cycling glasses look a bit goofy (IMHO). A couple of people have mentioned reflection off the inside of the lens in low-light conditions. I have noticed it from time to time, but it's been very minor and it hasn't really bothered me.
