Comfort and Style

I love love love these shoes. They are stylish enough that I find myself grabbing them to go to dinner or wear to work plus comfortable enough to wear on walk. My feet are a bit on the wide side but, because the fabric is so stretchy, they fit my feet perfectly. They have tons of cushion and, as weird as it may sound, a joy to walk in. I struggle with plantar fasciitis so I’m pretty picky about my shoes and I haven’t had a single instance of pain wearing these. They definitely aren’t an all terrain hiking shoe, but I wore them on a pretty leisurely 4.5 mile hike on well maintained trails without a hitch. They are lightweight and very easy to clean.

I wanted to love these...
I wanted to give these a try as they are a better-looking alternative to the Allbirds I love, which are comfy but not at all cute. I wore them around the house for a couple of days before working out in them, and they were very comfy, except for the high back tab which rubbed against my achilles. I loved how they looked and felt so I switched to higher socks to avoid the rubbing. This kind of canceled out the better appearance, however. On day 3 I wore the shoes to workout on my treadmill by doing my standard 3 mile walk at 3.5mph at a 3 incline. They felt fine, but later that evening, my long gone plantar fasciitis had returned. I tried the same workout the next day and couldn't finish it, the pain was so great. I am keeping the shoes to wear around the house when I am cooking or otherwise on my feet for longer periods of time, because they seem fine for that, but not fine for longer walks at a brisk pace. They do seem solidly constructed. I wish they'd worked out.

Comfortable on the trails!

Received free product

I used the Beyonders on some of my favorite crushed stone and moderate off the path trails. They fit true to size, were cushioned on even the toughest of sections, and gave me no issues for my long treks. The slip on/off feature was also top of my list, along with breathability of the fabric. My feet didn't overheat. These shoes are great for giving you a more cushioned feel on varied terrain!

Great for trails and every day things

Received free product

I wore these shoes for about a week to really get a feel for them before I reviewed and I am super impressed by them. When I first put them on, they were ridiculously comfy. The insole of the shoe is perfect, there’s arch support but not too much and it feels well-cushioned. There’s also padding on the heel and I loved that too. I would suggest being careful what kind of socks you wear with them as I wore one pair that had a seam hit right where the heel sits and it wasn’t comfortable. The tread on the shoes is nice both on concrete and on a trail. After wearing them all day, I had no discomfort. I found they fit true to size and did not feel too narrow in any part of the shoe. Overall, they’re pretty much a perfect shoe.

Sturdy guilt-free walking shoe

Received free product

This is a comfortable, sturdy sneaker that is perfect for casual neighborhood walks or days out with friends. It doesn't really have the support I'm looking for in a heavy-duty hiking or adventure shoe, but for casual walks it performs great. The best part is that it's made more sustainably, which I love being able to support! Ran a little small for me. I'm size 7.5 usually, and my toe feels a bit crowded in the toe box.

Wouldn't go Beyond the Backyard

Received free product

The minimalistic REI Beyonder Shoe is a decent shoe for everyday chores, errands, short walks. The Beyonder shoe is flexible, light, form-fitting with good ankle support and nice heal to toe drop, but it is not as cushioned or as supportive as a regular running shoe. I have a narrow, high-arched foot so it was nice to find a shoe without heal slippage. I typically wear a 6.5 and these were a bit too snug--I think I would suggest trying a half-size up. After wearing the Beyonders during a long day moving into a new home and the next day on a long errand to a concrete floored home goods store, these shoes did support my tired feet as well as I'd hoped. I explored my new neighborhood going a couple miles in the Beyonders and they were fine but did not compare to the comfort of my typical running shoe. I felt the cushioning just wasn't sufficient for my feet. The Beyonder is fine for short walks and errands, but I would not recommend for long distance walks or hikes.

Great everyday shoe

These shoes are super comfy. The middle of the foot is a bit narrow, I'd consider sizing up 1/2 or 1 size to get a little more room in that area. Perfect shoes to wear to coffee, errands, for a walk etc.

Stinky :/

I bought the green pair that I thought was adorable and comfy. Once I was wearing them I realized they were actually way too tight and gave me blisters. They started to stink really badly, so I bought a second pair in black in a size bigger. I have had the black ones for only a week or so. I’ve walked around a city on vacation for three days in them and then did a pretty normal moderate hike today and they STINK lol. I don’t really recommend them for the outdoors, unless you want to have to wash them after moderate use 🤷‍♀️ I don’t have any shoes that I feel like I’ve had to actually put in a washing machine to get rid of odor. Bummer , they are super cute

Wrong fit for me

These shoes didn’t work well for me. After my first 5 mile hike, the end toes on my left foot were pretty sore and black and blue under the nail. I have a bunion on that foot and so it pulls my toes over to the left. Since the fit of the upper is so tight, it just kept rubbing on those toes. My right foot was fine. If you are looking for a shoe that fits tight all over and you have normal feet, these shoes are for you. They are not like my Hokas where the toe end of the shoe is much wider and looser. Guess I shouldn’t order shoes online!

Didn't work for me.

These are nice shoes that fit well and look quite nice. Unfortunately, the padding at the back of the shoe (which I'm not sure why there's padding there) rubs my tendon quite badly to the point where I had to stop my walk after only a few minutes because I was sure the shoes were burning a hole in my foot. I made sure to wear high socks, but this was still an issue. So, I had to return them.
