feathers leak out, hood is too long, shell fabric is not durable

feathers leak out many place. i try to remove 1 and it leak out a lot and no stop. Hood is too long, i guess it is fit helmet but is bad for commuting. Shell fabric is terrible. Very thin and soft. it is not durable as Pertex or any other shell. that is why the feather is easy out and i believe if careless, the zip or twig can easily rip it.

Stiff zipper

I bought this jacket online without trying it on. When it showed up I was first a little disappointed about the amount of down filling. For a parka I was expecting an over packed super thick jacket, this wasn’t much more insulated than my daily wear down hoody. After I tried it on I realized the zipper was extremely finicky and stiff. I ended up returning the jacket due to the fact for a 500 dollar jacket I was expecting high quality and lots of insulation. I will say the jacket fit good and I love the fabric and style but If I’m spending 500 bucks I need something that will function and perform like an expensive piece of gear should.

Excellent Value

For the price, this parka can't be beat. The insulation is abundant and very warming, it fits well over my normal layers and gloves, and is relatively light for its size. It is confusing to figure out how it packs down. None of the pockets seems designed to pack into, but the interior dump pouch seems to do the trick (with a little bit of material spilling out, will probably but a rubber band or voile strap around it. Also the material seems easy to snap on sharp points, but considering I will probably only have this jacket on at the belay station or at camp, that's less of a concern. Especially considering the weight saving having a lighter exterior fabric.

Has worked on even the coldest days

Have had this parka for about 4 months and used it quite extensively from sub-zero alpine starts to stuffing in a sea to summit 6.5L sack and leaving it in my pack all day. Has held up great and surprisingly not a single tear or hole has formed even with pretty decent abuse around pointy objects

My jacket ripped while i was going to the market. I didn't notice anything serious even hitting it. 2cmx2xm rippage in the stomach area :( im sad cause the jacket was warm. It's not just as durable as advertised

Warm and Comfortable

I'm finally getting a chance to wear this jacket, its nice and warm, no issues here, the material seems very durable, I bought black, very happy with the color. I'm 6', 205 lbs, I ordered the XL because I have broad shoulders, it fits well in the shoulders for me, the waist is a bit bulky as expected but I wish there was a drawstring for my waist, this would of been helpful. There is a drawstring at the bottom of the jack which I do like. The only other issue I have is the zipper is a bit flaky, this could be just a matter of breaking it in. I would purchase this again.

Excellent quality

Wore this jacket in a couple sub-zero days (without factoring wind chill, so yeah, it was COLD) working up at the ski resort. Even just standing around I was plenty warm! There are two downsides I have found: 1. There seems to be an unusual amount of down filling falling out. This typically happens with new down but it seems as if there is TOO much coming out. 2. The zipper is a little tricky to zip up sometimes; ESPECIALLY while wearing thicker gloves. I've had to remove my gloves every time to get it going which isn't ideal in the cold. Still an excellent jacket!

Great jacket - Poor zipper design

I've had this jacket for a few months now and simply love it. Comfortable and warm. the cuffs are great and not annoying like some other model and the sizing is also what I expected. I am 6'1, 185lbs and I can put a sweater under. Seems to be of very good quality with good isolation. The reason for the 3 stars is the zipper. Although the jacket itself is great, the zipper is poorly designed. It is a bidirectional zipper, which makes sense in theory, however is hard to zip. Feels like the two pieces of the zipper simply don't fit well together which makes it annoying to start the zip. I often have to take several minutes to struggle with the zipper. When comes time to replace it I will consider the same jacket, however, if they haven't changed the zipper, it's going to be a no-go for me.

Perfect Jacket

I see why they won awards for this jacket. Living in the midwestern winter, I was searching for the perfect jacket to keep me warm on the coldest days of the year. This jacket does that. It honestly just feels so good to slide the jacket on. The materials are great, the design is great, and it keeps me very warm. I love how soft it is, how the materials feel on the skin, and how easy it is to slide your hands through the wrist cuffs. Perfect jacket, perfect design. Nice job Black Diamond.

Sizing off for me

I wanted to love this jacket, but...I love the new fabric, although it adds a bit of weight. My major issue that led to returning the jacket was the sizing. I am 5'8, 148 lbs, athletic build and usually fit well in mediums. However, the medium was just too large for my taste even for a belay type jacket. The small fit better, but was just a bit tight over base layers and a Pieps DSP beacon in a chest harness. Yeah, I know I could just put it in my pants pocket, but that means buying pants and maybe a new beacon... A few minor issues. The zipper is stiff and difficult to engage. Not a big problem with warm hands but annoying enough to be an issue. I love the drop in pockets, but as another reviewer noted, they go all the way to the hem which sits at the hips, making it a bit uncomfortable to put much in them
