Best over mitts I've used so far
They keep my hands dry when digging snow pits and warm when the temps drop and winds are howling on ridge tops. They are super lightweight and pack down small to fit inside a pocket. I bought size med and they fit over medium winter gloves comfortably. Highly recommend especially if you go out ski touring, or spend all day outside in all conditions. Prefect to bring on your fall/spring hiking trips in the PNW or any areas where precipitation is in the forecast.

I got these as the waterproof outer layer of a mitten system. The great part is they add durability to liner gloves,which don't alway stand up to wear. Liners can be switched out depending on how much warmth is needed. Or use them alone in a rainstorm to keep hands dry in warmer weather. Another nice feature is liners can be removed if wet, allowing the glove system to dry faster. Overall, the fit is good over liners of various thicknesses. The fabric is durable & waterproof, with minimal seams to fail. The drawstring toggle closure is easy to use with the other mittened hand, which is essential. Very happy with my purchase.
Perfect Overmitts
These epitomize the idea of layering: by themselves on cool and windy, or over a glove or mitten in serious weather. What ABQTed failed to do was simply use the included loops mounted inside the end of the gauntlet to ingeniously improvise his own wrist leashes: a length of 550 cord. Sorry, Ted: these are great overmitts and those of us who bought them and kept them are the winners here. I wear a size L mitten and glove; I bought these in L to fit over my Dachstein mitts, and the fit is spot on. I'm always surprised how hard it is to find a solidly made and simply overmitt, and these are those. Recommended.
Exactly what I expected - nothing less than excellence.
As a ski patroller and avid backcountry skier, I wanted something I could depend on during our subzero Montana winters. I have trusted the Black Diamond brand since its roots as the Great Pacific Iron Works. These overmitts didn’t disappoint. I needed a bombproof wind and waterproof shield to go over my woolen mittens and got EXACTLY what I needed.
Awesome overmitts
I had been eyeing these last year, bought a M pair & returned them because too big. My palm to middle finger tip is 6-1/2”. XS size fits perfect over all of my finger type in gloves, to instantly make my own gloves waterproof, wind proof & gives an extra layer! I can fit a thin or bulky pair under & they feel great !
Great versatile design
Great multipurpose mittens, protection from the elements. I bought these overmitts as additional rain gear, preparing for an upcoming trip to Southeast Alaska. When they arrived, I quickly realized they are perfect for snowsports. Size medium fits great over my medium sized Kinco style winter gloves, creating an unbeatable winter glove combo for the cost and weight. The overmitts cover up the forearm far enough to keep out any form of moisture, the cuffs are easily tightened, and they pack up small. Grey color looks good with most rain gear and ski gear. Cool product!
I love these mittens! Nice light durable shell which rolls up nice and small for easy storage in a pocket - quick access on the go. A medium fits perfectly over my Hestra ergo grip active size 8 gloves. These mittens are great for starting out when hands haven't got the blood flowing yet, or for later in the ski tour if needed on the fly. The draw cord is perfect for those deep powder days! No issues with durability, though these are really best used as a supplementary layer. If a mitt is needed for the whole day I would wear a dedicated leather mitten. The packability and resultant easy access have really expanded the conditions when I can use a lighter touring glove and still keep my hands warm and happy.
Great overmitt
I used these primarily as a ski over mit with fleece gloves underneath. first used on a powered day that turned into rain. hands and fleece gloves stayed dry all day. the gloves have no insulation are thin and easily stow in a jacket pocket.
wonderful outer mitts. . . one complaint
These are great outer mitts, heavy duty, protect well from wind and water. They're *outer* mitts, so of course the "run large. " XS fits perfectly over my XS BD Glissade Mittens. That combination keeps my hands warm well below the Glissades' stated temperature range. I'm repeating here my one complaint (and desperate request)--and the only reason I'm giving four instead of five stars: why must virtually all mittens contain embedded elastic around the wrist? This makes them so much harder to put on and take off while on the trail! A cinch strap instead would permit the wearer to loosen the mittens around the wrist for ingress/egress and then tighten to taste for retaining warmth (and/or staying in place). Anyone listening?
Awesome dry overmitt and increased warmth!
I got these overmitt for super wet and cold days to both protect my leather ski race gloves and add a little extra warmth. Just used them in actual -17F before a superG race run in VT during a two hour unplanned course hold. My speed gloves are warm, but not made for that sort of extreme temp and these overmitts we're the envy of everyone else waiting for their turn in the gate. I'd honestly pay 2x the price for their versatility and performance. Now I have sl training in the rain Wednesday night and they'll protect the nice leather of my gloves, keeping me warm and dry! Thanks so much for such a highly versatile product! Definitely going to explore the Black Diamond lineup more now that I know what quality I can count on.
