Quality but lack structural support

I used this pack on several multi-day trips, riding over fairly large distances of gravel. Overall a good purchase, but for the prices, it's not all gravy and mashed potatoes... Pros: solid construction, waterproofing, reflective accents, warranty Cons: 1. Installation on the bike is bit annoying. Routing the straps under the saddle through the rails isn't practical with a fully packed bag. So bottom line, install it empty and leave it on the bike. 2. Structure. This is where this bag looses most of its luster. It has no structure and if you don't pack it correctly, even with the tension straps, it can flop, potentially even rub on the tire (see photos when carefully packed vs. not). It is essential to put the heaviest items near the saddle, and use things like flip flops to give it some structure. I plan on getting some plastic sheet of sort that would go inside the bag to address this problem. Some the Revelate bags have a shell that addresses that problem very nicely. Overall happy, but at this price point, I think it could have been a bit nicer.

Great pack, one minor flaw

Good waterproofing, slim profile keeps it out of the way of your thighs. love the compression valve, the buckle positions, the mesh. Only downside is one that could render the bag inoperable, and thats the lack of stitching on the velcro. The crucial velcro strips that hold the bag to your seatpost came off after sitting in storage for several months. Could be solved by stitching or riveting the straps instead of just glueing them on. The velcro isn't even on the main bag body, so waterproofing is not a concern. Please, Ortlieb, fix this issue.

Great seat pack for Bikepacking

I used this seat pack for a multi day Bikepacking trip in northern Montana and loved it. I packed my rumple blanket, a 5L S2S bag, my pillow, and sometimes an empty water bottle. On the top I used the straps to hold down a jacket and wool socks that I took off during my ride as the day warmed up. I would only pack lightweight, bulky items in the pack. If you insist on putting heavy items in then start with the heavier items packed first and then the lightest, bulkier items last so that as much of the weight as possible is under your seat (and not swinging around behind you).

seat back folded onto back wheel

purchased for a bike trip through patagonia, on the second day the bag folded onto the back wheel therefore making a big hole which rendered nit suitable for rainy days. I later saw that they sell an optinal strap which would have prevented the accident. if you’re thinking of this bag don’t buy it with out this additional strap, it doesn’t work
