My son wore these shoes once to church the webbing that holds the shoe lace on came loose. It looks like is was just clued together. I don’t know what Keen was thinking but these are definitely not made for hiking. It looks to me like the webbing that goes through the back of the shoe would wear out fast and the laces are attached to that webbing. He was really looking forward to using them on an up coming 30 mile section hike of the AT. It will be his longest and most difficult 3 day hike. I’m so glad they broke before the trip; not on the trail. Now I have to scramble to get to REI to replace these before our trip.
The shoes are less than a month old and the side of the one shoe is starting to split open. My son has wore Keen shoes for many years and most of them when he out grows them can be passed down to his younger brother but the quality is very low on these. This is the 2nd pair My son has had of this model and both pair have split at the same spot
I love KEENs but this pair really let me down - they broke down at the seams less than 3 months in. My son is, admittedly, hard on shoes, which is why we go for hiking models as they seem to slow his shoe destruction down a little better than canvas/mesh sneakers. But this pair was so shoddily constructed it separated at the toe seam almost immediately after the first week he wore them. Disappointed for the cost.
My son has overpronation and flat feet and has worn these nearly everyday to his outdoor Forest school. He’s not easy on these shoes! Not only do they provide excellent support for his feet and ankles, but they’ve held up and still look brand new. Very easy to clean.
I love so much about these shoes! The colors, the bungee closure, the padding around the ankle. But the cushion in the foot bed is non-existent and there is no arch support to speak of. I don't know if it's because these are kids shoes. I wear a women's size 8 and the size 6 in kids works well for me (though they may not work for you if have wide feet). When I wear them, I can actually feel the ground. I put in some inserts which helped a little but I still got a corn on my foot. I'm going to invest in a nice pair of inserts to use because I've already worn them a bunch and can't return them. I bought the Blue/Chartreuse and I really love the colors. I only wish Keen would follow the lead of Merrell and add a nice cushioned foot bed to these shoes!!!
If you want a quality shoe then keep looking. These shoes only last a max of 3 months. My son is on his 3rd pair in a year. I've bought 2 pair and had 1 replacement pair. All the shoes split open on the side the tread on the newest pair has wore almost smooth in 3 months. The older pairs still have more tread than the newer shoe. I've been buying Keen's for myself and my son for many years. I wish Keen would bring back the kids leather vent shoes (non-waterproof). These shoes didn't break down like the sport vent.
My seven year old loves this shoe! I love the great traction, lots of reflectives and wide toe box. My son has kinda chubby feet (taller than normal) and these fit well. Like them so much we bought in several sizes up.
The colors are pleasing to the eye and the shoes are light weight nice for hot days but they are shaped funny. Too long. Leaves room for feet to wiggle back n front and makes feel stepping unstable because your feet move around too much but I got them on sale and I paid for shipping so I don't want to bother sending them back. Also the inner cushion sole was way too thin. Iv been happy with other keens and they lasted me for years .
these shoes are great for kids. Durable, skid proof, non marking soles are great for almost any activity. There are a couple spots on the shoe that wears the most. Ant thin strapping for the laces or the pull tab on the back seem to go first. Velcro also is no the most durable. Sometimes after some use, a seam will blow or the sole will delaminate, but the warranty has been perfect in those instances. Buy these with confidence.
We were excited to see these kidd shoes as we have so many other keen products. These shoes are very different, they wore out extremely fast, little no no foot support.the sole started to separate. I could go on. The single number one thing that keeps me going back to keen for sandals, shoes, hikers and work boots is their fantastc warranty .I hope this is a one off problem
