Make sure you buy the right version

This is not the beach version of this shade. Therefore, it probably won’t hold up good on the beach. This version comes with corkscrew stakes that are used to anchor the corners. Those stakes will not hold up on the beach. This tent is meant for set up on more solid ground. There is a beach version that has sand bag anchors that is meant for the beach. That being said, this couldn’t be easier to set up. And all the materials seem pretty high quality with the exception of the corkscrew stakes. I wish it came with more as I can see these becoming brittle and eventually breaking. Other than that this tent is great.

Good start. Needs more add ons

This is a good start, but needs additional investment for optimization if you want to use it anywhere but on well-packed soccer fields. I bought this for a lightweight option for some quick shade for camping. To start, I wanted a more traditional easy up setup with 4 legs since I don't think the standard 2 leg set up works well unless you're sitting on the ground (canopy too low). So I had to buy the extra 2 legs. I was stoked they could fit in the bag. Next I saw the spiral stakes made of plastic and I immediately knew this would not work well for all ground types, so i bought extra tent stakes that worked for tents for this. I did try the original spiral stakes but all it did was stir the fine gravel around, so I tried the good tent stakes, but those were a bust also since there is a lot more upward force on the stakes when setting up this product than with a tent since the upwards resistance is what keep the free legs in place. I got a nasty surprise when my tent stake flew back out at me when I tried to prop it up in loose gravel. So I had to stack rocks on my tent stakes. Once I did that, it was perfect. Stayed up throughout the day and overnight through the wind gusts. If I could just get stakes that dig in and not fly out with upward force. The REI staff who saw me buy this suggested I go to home depot to get a metal spiral stake. I might try his advice since metal spirals may actually dig in the ground properly at a campsite. I get the design concept as a beach product that's trying to fit in as a more versatile item, but i just think more could be done to make it an excellent item out of the box when it's marketed as a versatile item. I mean, I'd still get it, but I wish I didn't have to solution for it every time I go camping at a different place until I collect enough different kinds of stakes for each ground type.

Great Family Shade

This is our family's go to sun shade! We use it at the soccer fields for practices and games and we have the players sit under it when they are sitting out and friends trying to steal our shade as well! We even took it to my husbands softball tournament and connected it to the fence and bleachers and it was perfect. Definitely recommend this for familys who are into sports!

So… it still worked BUT

Didn’t realize this was a long skinny type because it was the SIDELINES and not the beach one which is a square. With that said - it still worked and we all just sat side by side but my back got sun burnt because it was long and skinny fabric set up. Someone in the reviews mentioned their problem were the stakes - that wasn’t an issue with us. Ours went spiraling down no problem and never got uprooted except by the dog who ran into one of the poles. Woof. Also because it turns out - you can buy the sand bags! So if you have this and take it to the beach, should be fine… but I think I’m gonna return it and exchange for the beach kind. How do I add a picture on here?

used and filthy

We bought the sunshade for general use but specifically for our daughter’s birthday party. It wasn’t available at our local REI but we were able to order online and it was quickly delivered. Exciting! Until we opened it. Trash, debris, junk, whatever you want to call it, it was in the bag, wrapped in the shelter fabric. Not gonna lie, it was disgusting. Most of the stuff ended up in our trash but I’m sure there’s some treasure left. I can’t review the integrity of the product but we’re astounded that gear in such condition would be sold.

Perfect desert shelter

Bought this for a weekend trip to Chaco Canyon in the New Mexico high desert. 2 days in a desert campground with little other shade—it was a lifesaver. Stood up to fairly high winds gusting to at least 20 mph range. Very light material but stood up to much more than I would have expected.

Canopy lite weight

I’m looking for a lightweight camping canopy that weighs 7 lbs or less, so I’m not dragging around a heavy steel structure. It should be made from high-quality, durable material that offers good stretch and versatility for various setups, whether on the ground, attached to a vehicle, or secured in sand. For hard surfaces like concrete, it should come with a hammer drill option for hard surfaces.. :). It works well with the provided carabiners attaching to trees bushes, fences and so on. The setup is intuitive and efficient everything has a place in the provided bag. Ideally, it can accommodate 4-6 chairs or provide ample space for two people, making it perfect for small gatherings.

Difficult to setup with minimal shade

We tried to set the sunshade up on a day with mild wind and it not only could not hold, but it wavered. Plus, angling the shade against the wind can compromise how much shade you get if you placed it at another angle.

cool design but it doesn’t look built to last

We set this up as an attachment to our camper trailer. While it’s easy to setup, I’m concerned it won’t last. After just a few days I was seeing separation between the fabric and the reinforced corners.
