Perfect for a day at the beach.
Perfect for a day at the Beach! Fill the sand bags really full. Zero problems in the wind after using it every day during our time at the beach. Tip - buy a small shovel to help fill the sand bags. Makes it a lot easier. Love that it all fits in my backpack. Makes it easier for riding my bike down the beach trails.
Versatile
Purchased this not for the beach but for car camping and road trips. The plan is to replace two of the sand bags/ropes with paracord for tying to the car, and potentially the other two for staking down. A couple extra stakes and paracord, $10 later, and you have an incredibly versatile system that you can set up anywhere. The fabric is stretchy and I predict it won’t hold up in rain. Will bring a back up small tarp to strap over it in those conditions. I’ll report back after our upcoming trip as to how well it holds up outside of the beach. Until then, here’s a photo of it set up on our back deck! For $100, this can’t be beat.
Love our new beach tent!
We have lugged for years the dreaded heavy tent or unreliable umbrella to the beach, which only frustrated us and made us dread setting up and breaking down our tent daily, we finally decided to do a little research and stumbled across an article about the Neso company and their journey, we decided to give it a try with the small option first, and we were very happy with our purchase, super easy to put up, I would recommend watching their company YouTube videos, it took us maybe five minutes the first time and each day we became more efficient that by day three it took only two minutes for full setup, you are definitely protected from the sun while maintaining great views with stress free beach tent vacation! Yes please!
ditto for causing beach envy
Bought this last year and waited until we used it several times before writing a review. Super easy to set up with one person, even easier with two. Every time we use it, we time how long it takes for someone to approach us and inquire where we got it. People even take photos of it. We've used it on calm days and super windy days. It has never blown down. It might bounce in the wind but, but we follow the setup directions and it has never caused any problems. Easy to move poles around to adjust to wind conditions or changing angle of sun. On a crowded beach, our kids never have to wonder where we are - just look for the bright blue tent with pink flamingos.
Worked perfectly on Cape Cod beach!
We got this tent to have some portable shade that we could pack in our luggage for a trip to Cape Cod. An REI tent expert really endorsed this as lightweight and effective and helped me also pick out a small foldable shovel to dig sand to 1) fill the tent’s anchor bags with sand and 2) dig holes in order to bury the four sand-filled bags, one for each corner. Once the tent and ropes on each corner were stretched out to the anchor holes with all bags buried, it was a snap to assemble the two poles and position them on one side. We had enough shade for four people all day and even though there were some gusty winds, it stood strong. Other beachgoers took note of the name of the tent. It is definitely the maximum shade for the size of bag; much easier and I think safer than a big umbrella! Well done, Neso and REI!!!
The only beach shade that's ever worked for us!
This Neso shade worked perfectly! We just purchased this for a trip to the Outer Banks of NC and used it every day both oceanside and soundside. By following the guidance of facing the opening to the wind, stretching out the bag locations to make the shade taut, digging holes in the sand for the bags, filling (wet sand works even better) and covering them, the shade easily withstood the sustained winds for 4-6 hours a day - and most importantly, provided us shade all day! I considered the larger size (not the Gigante) but was worried about the footprint: on the OBX, this would not have been an issue, but we were still perfectly happy with the Neso 1 for 2 adults.
Fast easy shade
Took other recommendations here and on Neso's site to use a trowel and dig the bags down into a hole, overfill, and bury. It's a gently breezy day on the beach and we are on Hour 3 of uninterrupted shade. That said, we are debating returning this for a the next larger one. 2 adults fit under this in a carefully coordinated way because the distance from pole to the vertically short back end is not quite adult sized. If 1 is stretched out napping and the other person is now in the sun as it moves across the sky, the napping person has to move to the far side of the pole to resume naptime.
easy to use and portable
Love it. I use it at the beach in Santa Barbara. Takes me 10 minutes to set up- filling the bags with sand is the most time consuming part. Putting poles up is easy and have never fallen down. I’m a sedentary 5’6” 40 y/o woman and I do it all by myself. Love that you can set it up multiple configurations for maximum shade (see their website). Other reviews said it was hard to put up- nonsense. I have a large tent style shelter and the Neso takes longer to put up but is easier with one person and is better blocking sun. One more thing- you can buy the straps for using it on regular ground surface separately and then it is 2x as useful.
Best sun shelter
Bought one and brought it on our trip to Miami and it was a best move ever. It weights nothing and provides the best shade without blocking the cross breeze. It was a bit of a learning curve at first to set it up but incidentally the kind gentleman next to us also had one and he gave us a pro tip on how to set it up. Key is to bury the weights in the sand. Once you set it up correctly it can withstand gush of ocean wind. It’s worth every penny!
Makes going to the beach a "day at the beach."
This tent is perfect for the beach. It stands up to the wind and definitely provides much cooler shade than traditional beach canopies or tents. Super quick put up and take down, light to carry onto the beach from a short distance, just the right size to keep your pup and such out of the sun when it gets to be too much, and air flows right through. Even sets up on solid ground if you have stakes and some ingenuity. The only issue I had at all with this product was that the stiching that held the carrying strap to the carrying case broke after a handful of trips. I didn't take off a star because this was 1. probably just a fluke 2. easily repairable and 3. not a piece of the tent itself, but I suppose it is worth mentioning.
