Great Solution for Bike Rack Interference
This extender checks all the boxes. The hitch on my new car sits recessed under the bumper a bit and when putting on the bike rack, my handlebars would hit the rear glass. I was concerned with a straight extender that the low-hanging rack would scrape on hills or exiting the driveway so the added 2 inch lift should help a bit. Lastly, I still wanted a way to easily tighten to eliminate rattling and lock my bike rack to the hitch. This enables security for peace of mind when parking at the trailhead and no movement while driving.
Küat Hi-Lo Pro
I purchased the Hi-Lo Pro for my Küat rack because the rear door of my 2017 Lexus GX460 would bump into the tire scoop, which sits up just enough to get in the way. Even though the tire scoop may be tilted down a bit, It is not enough for the door to clear. This extender can serve to raise or lower the NV 2.0 two inches, which solves the door clearance issue, but it adds about 10 inches of rear projection to the rack. This makes it a little bit easier to access the rear door even when the rack is folded up and not in use. If used in the “Lo” position, be careful of the rack end scraping the ground when crossing sharply angled curbs/driveway entrances or exits. It states in the instructions that an extender is not to be used with the two bike add-on to the NV 2.0. I confirmed with Küat that this only applies to non-Küat extenders. I am told by Küat that the Pivot (which swings the entire rack away as much as 120°) will accomplish the same thing. I have not been able to find the Pivot anywhere, so I was happy that REI had the Hi-Lo Pro available.
As advertised!
Works great to extend my bike rack so I can access the trunk on my Jeep Wrangler with minimal bouncing/movement.
REI scam
The product is good for my Jeep Wrangler. But, this was $119 and I was waiting to purchase since REI had an upcoming 20% off for members. The day of the 20% off the price went up to $138.
