I bought them less than two weeks ago. Unfortunately, during my 4th run in these new shoes, one of the "eyelets" got ripped out its place. Looks like a poor stitching. I had a pair of previous model - Sense Ride 3 - and, although they worn out sooner than I expected, I liked them
I've put over a 100 miles on these shoes so far and I can't find a single fault with them. If you're familiar with the Sense line, you know that these are the Swiss Army Knife of trail shoes. From short training runs to ultra distance races, the Sense Ride 4 can do it all. I love how Salomon updated the tongue for this rendition of the show. Its now thinner and the lace tucks into the bottom rather than the top. The cushion allows you to go the distance without making it feel like you are running on marshmallows like some other brands.
Bought these after getting some posterior tib tendonitis and big toe pain from minimalist shoes. These have helped me continue running pain free (along with some PT of course). They ran a bit larger than my previous shoes (I wear 8.5 but got these in an 8) and they are slimmer than what I'm used to but not overly so. The lacing system is nice after you get used to it and the shoes are great for the trails here in Boulder, CO. The shoes are nice and firm as well as not very tall in the stack height so I feel low to the ground and very stable. No real complaints from me. Overall, I've like these so much that I've got some Salomons for everyday use too and am enjoying them very much.
Excellent trail running shoe in a lightweight package. The rubber is soft but durable and had excellent traction on rock trails. The cushion was a little less than I am used to with my normal trail shoes (Hoka Mafate) but definitely on the higher end of what I have experienced in the multiple prior pairs of Salomon shoes I have owned in the past. My only complaint was that the lace stash pocket on the tongue overlapped with the top crossing of the laces, but once stowed they definitely stayed in place.
I love everything about this shoe! Every upgrade on this shoe has a place. It Seems to have more support throughout the entire shoe (upper and lower ) . My personal favorite is the added cushion to the sole. It is a stout and safe ride that I have already taken on big efforts and am convinced I have many more to come. I feel like it was the step in the right direction and plan on purchasing as many as I can get my hands on. I would also recommend this shoe to anyone that has really high arches.
somethings not right with these. The length is right, but at the arch, they are like a size 7. I need to tighten them to keep heel in, but that cuts off circulation at the arch. Uncomfortable as soon as I put them on. I wore them around the house to see if I could break them in. But I don't think it's going to happen. I have 6 other pairs of Salomons around the house and all others were instantly comfy, these feel instantly uncomfortable. Also the left is more uncomfortable than the right. It feels like the arch on the left is 1/2" too close to the heel. I do notice the clicking everyone is talking about,, it seems to come from the stiff material on top of the toe. Not a big deal for me.
The Sense Ride 4 is a perfect shoe for all around trails conditions. I would say it runs true to size I am typically a size 10 across-the-board and Salomon shoes. It's a great work horse shoe. If you just want to log miles or if you want to train a little bit more up-tempo. I've had the previous sense rides and I think this one is a great improvement as well even though I enjoyed the previous models.
These are great all a round trail runners for the dry/buffed out trails of Utah. I'm on my second pair of these. My first pair made it to mile 260 and the the toebox blew out like some of the other reviews noted. I am a huge fan of these shoes. They're lightweight, provide a great lockdown feel, and are responsive. I recently brought these on a trip to Austria and they served as my one shoe quiver for a month. They handled, concrete ,gravel, mud, and scree very well. The issues with the clicking toes is real but goes away after about 20 miles of break in. I don't find this to be an issue because the sound of running usually drowns out this noise. I only noticed this "clicking" while walking.
Very comfortable, but narrow fit. Unfortunately- Have only worn a few times now and not yet for strenuous exercise. Today an eyelet tore and they were not even on very tight. Indicative of poor quality. Never had this issues with other Salomon shoes I’ve had. Very Disappointed. Would not recommend.
I take tham as outdoor shoes to Armenia&Georgia. After 4 weekends of usage, both of them had a hole on my little-finger (suddently no waterproof, no secure). I had to buy a new pair. I dont understand so good reviews in comparison pages.
