Footprints as if in soft sand🦶🫶
My Honu sandals are buttery soft and comfortable from the get go. There is just enough support in the arch. I love the color, which goes with anything and I am obsessed with the cute turtle pattern on the sole. I must confess that I liked them so much that I purchased the elegant white as well. I have a low volume foot and they fit me perfectly. My foot imprints in them as if I was making a foot print in Hawaiian sand. I am indeed in love with these beauties. They will get their maiden walk when I visit Hawaii later this month. I live in Arizona and their vibe is also perfect here.
I hope I die in these flip flops.
I've had a pair of these for about a year. I bought them in-store, and they quickly became my favorite pair of sandals I have EVER had. I wear these 90% of the time during the months of the year that dont snow. They are so high quality, so comfortable, and have freaking sea turtles on them. How can you beat that??? I know these will last me many years. I hope I die in these flip flops. I'm actually tempted to get another pair in case anything ever happens to my current pair. They do run slightly small. I usually wear a 7- 7.5 and got an 8. It leaves enough room at the back of the heel so that it doesn't feel like my heel is hanging off the back.
Good but not perfect
I bought these as a warmer-toned more "formal" alternative to my black OluKai Ho‘ōpio set (which I love). I have the same size in both, but the Honu is ~1cm shorter than the Ho‘ōpio sandals and approximately the same width. The good: These sandals look nice. I love the honu etching and the brown leather gives these a more elevated look. The leather footbed also is very comfortable and has molded to my feet for added comfort. Even after being soaked in ocean water the leather is smooth and doesn't show any signs of salt damage. The straps are buttery soft and hold the shoe on my foot well — I went tidepooling in these (forgot my sneakers) and they felt secure on all but a few particularly algae-covered rocks. The not-so-good: The Honu are not as comfortable as other OluKai sandals I've had. Usually OluKai is comfortable right out of the box but I had to wear these for several weeks before they were broken in. The first few days I got a small blister in between my toes from the toe post, which is not as supple and flexible as other models or the straps.
Shorter and narrower than most OluKai sandals
I love all of my OluKai sandals but these run slightly smaller and narrower than others. This is my second pair. The last time I got them I thought I may have just received a pair that was a little off but this pair is exactly the same. They are about 1/2" shorter than the Paniolo and another leather style I have that I don't think is available any longer. And, of course, there are even more differences when compared to the Kipe'a 'Olu or the 'Ohana. The straps are tighter but they will stretch - you just don't necessarily get that straight out of the box comfort.
Best flip flops for high arches
I have very high arches and this sandal gives me the best support and they last for years.
best ever flip flops
Most flip flops have no support and will eventually harm your feet. I learned the hard way. These have a supportive footbed. The leather is smooth on the skin. Yes, it takes a little to wear them in. Then they’re a dream. I’ve been wearing them every day since I got them. Leather takes a little breaking in. I think we forgot that because plastic is everywhere. They’ve almost replaced my Birkenstocks for casual day to day. Plastic shoes will never feel as nice as these lovelies. And the leather won’t be on the earth forever. I will buy them again. I buy my normal size because leather relaxes a bit.
LOVE THE COLORS & SO COMFORTABLE!
I have dozens of pairs of different OluKai sandals and tennis shoes. These sandals are my latest purchase. They are VERY comfortable and I love the colors and design. They go great with all my light colored outfits. One thing to know is they are quite a bit heavier in weight than most other pairs of sandals I have. This is something to consider if you are packing them in a suitcase for a trip and weight is so important since the airlines limit you on max weight in your suitcase. I left them behind on my recent trip because of that. Or, just wear these ones on the plane and pack the lighter pairs!
Great sandal- need time to break in
I’m not going to lie, when I first put these on, I thought I was going to return them. They have hard soles and just weren’t very comfortable. My hubby suggested that leather gets better over time and to give them a try- I’m so glad I did! These are comfortable and I reach for them all the time! They also offer a touch more arch support for my narrow feet with high arches. (And don’t even get me started about how much I love the sea turtles!)
Not what I was expecting
I have four other pairs of Olukai that are sooo comfortable. These are cute but they are very uncomfortable. They hurt between the toes. I won't be able to wear them long enough to see if they can be broken in. I was super excited to get these; I will have to exchange for a more comfortable pair.
Not worth the money
The leather footbed is very comfy, but the sandals don't feel secure when I am walking. I got a huge blister the first few times I wore them, and even after breaking them in I can't wear them long. My experience was similar to many other negative reviews about these flip flops. I'm bummed because they look nice and the leather bottom is comfortable. But I'm going back to my cheap $30 flip flops.
