Weird Plastic Smell, Didn't feel well afterwords

I love my Jetboil MiniMo so I was looking forward to expanding my camp kitchen with this larger pot. It fit well to my MiniMo stove when I add the separately-sold pot/pan support and it felt like a secure set up, even though it does not twist lock on like the MiniMo's container. My biggest compaint is that the pot started off with a weird smell, so i washed it with warm water a dish soap before using. I added oil and turned on the stove, and i got a poof of smoke from under the pot which was strange. It went away so i thought maybe it was just some coating burning off. I ate the eggs and chili I cooked in it and felt sick a little after for the rest of the morning and afternoon. I thought maybe i just didnt wash it properly the first time since it smells a little less like plastic now, So i washed it again (it did wash off nicely) and boiled some water to see if the smell remained. The water did smell like plastic, and i got sick again so i decided this pot was not for me. :( I returned it.

Flawed design

So disappointed when I pulled this pot out of it's box, only to have the fins within the heat distribution ring crumble under my thumb. While the Jetboil Zip has a plastic cover over these fins for protection when not in use, this pot has nothing. Not even a stuff sack. Nor is there warning regarding the fragility of these little monsters in the instructions. Seriously, they came apart like egg shells! Very disappointed in you, Jetboil. You're serving people engaged in fairly rugged activity, yet this 105 pound woman crushes it just trying to get it out of the box!

love this thing

This little pot was a big upgrade from my previous setup, the default 2-layer pot with green handles from Amazon that a lot of folks seem to have. I don't know about the fragility of the little flanges since I had no issue, but the reason why I love this pot so much is because it boils incredibly incredibly quickly. It also efficiently stores cooking equipment in itself. I only tried using the strainer holes in the lid once to try and pour more precisely, but it didn't work too well. Instead, I poured the hot water into my cup and then used that to pour water into my freeze-dried food. I will need to test this lid again on another trip, since this last one in Denali was its maiden trip.

Great quality but....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this pot to use when camping in TX. I Iove how lightweight, yet durable the product is, and Jetboil has a great reputation for quality in my book. The handle folds in to save space, the sleeve cover keeps it quiet from rattling with other objects when packed, and the locking lid comes in very handy to avoid spills. I didn’t originally realize that it is meant to be used in a system with the complementary burner system, so I’m looking forward to completing the set to get the full effect of it’s intended function. I’m sure there are less expensive options for just a general pot to use on the stove, but you can’t go wrong here.

Good pot, terrible lid.

First, yes these heat conductive ring pots work extremely well. You can use them with just about any stove and cut your boil times by as much as a third. If you don't mind the weight penalty and just want to minimize your boil time and gas consumption then it's a good buy. Otherwise there are lighter aluminum and titanium pots. There is an effective black non-stick coating on the interior so if you burn something like sauce it wipes out without much fuss which is also nice but that coating does also necessitate the need to use plastic or silicone utensils so as not to scratch it up. It will fit a medium 230g gas canister with a decent amount of room left for most small stoves or some accessories. Now the downer. The lid is a bit of an afterthought. The fit is extremely sloppy and has no real notched area to nest securely into the pan lip. It's actually tapered a bit so as you pack it up it likes to slip all over. The weight of the lid is also almost non-existent so you have to be careful in windy areas that it doesn't blow away. This is far from a cheap pot so it's pretty disappointing it made it from design to production like this. The pot handle is also extremely basic comparative to something more fancy and secure like the design found on the Sea To Summit Alpha pot. I'd expect better from Jetboil.

New version is substandard quality

I bought this pot a decade + ago and it was a fantastic pot. After 10 years, which included several thru hikes including the AZT, PCT and CDT the pot finally wore out. We loved the pot so much I bought another. This one wore out in less than a couple months of use. Sad, they have reduced the quality in the newer model. Inside chips and scrapes and the interior coating is getting shredded. (I use a plastic spoon)

Remove before use

I would suggest removing the neoprene wrap of the pot before cooking. The bottom part of the wrap melted onto the pot itself while using the jetboil stove with pot support. That was first time using the pot! I have the flash java kit system and over the years i was using, the neoprene wrap on it never melted. I guess the wrap material they used on this pot is subpar. Other than that, its a great pot. Lightweight, easy to clean.

Jetboil pot

It’s literally just the pot, even though the picture only has the gas Grey’d out, it doesn’t come with the feet or burner. Grey out the whole system and not just the fuel tank so customers know what their getting.

Have taken on a few backpacking trips — big enough to pack meals / small propane within the pot. Size worked well for cooking meals for two. Heats up super fast and the nonstick coating is easy to clean. It can wobble here and there, but overall, it's a great product!

Great pot for two!

We bought the pot support attachment and love using this pot for backpacking and longer day hikes. It fits enough food for two fairly hungry people, even after a long day of hiking! So far, it has been durable and easy to clean. The lid secures but flipping the handle up, which is great for rehydrating backpacking meals.
