Excellent trekking pole used instead of a cane. Light with a comfortable handle. Easy to remove rubber tip allows use with the carbide tip when walking outside in ice and snow. Self standing canes have a 3/4 inch pole and this is a 1/2 inch pole. It would be really great if it were possible to purchase a self standing rubber end to replace the included rubber tip. Those currently available are 3/4 inch and this is 1/2 inch. Not a criticism of this cane which is the best I have ever had but providing a self standing tip would be a wonderful addition.
I need these poles for use as a cane more than a trekking pole. I am pretty young to need a cane and so was looking for a more “sporty” one than the boring medical ones I have. I tried a few different trekking pole styles with the flat “cane” top and this was by far the best. Very sturdy, easy to adjust, lightweight, comfortable in the hand, easy to compress. Compared to the others, it actually seemed as though the person who designed this had tried using it cane-style, as opposed to the other similar styles I tried. Tried two other Leki poles of similar style and both also seemed to be quality products. Kept the super micro as well, in case of traveling, and ordered another pair of tips as I walk mostly on the roads in the neighborhood. Hoping that this performs well long term, but am very pleased with it after the few weeks I have owned it.
I needed a cane after hip surgery and wanted one slim and lightweight but sturdy. This one definitely fits the bill! Nowhere near as clunky and heavy as the aluminum medical ones available. This was my first Leki product and I will definitely be buying their trekking poles when I can hike again. One note, the hand strap could be a touch longer.
This is my fifth Leki walking cane (I keep losing them while traveling). This one is carbon fiber. It's pricy but worth it (the reason for only 4 stars; Leki could use some serious competition price wise). It's good for traveling as I can remove the rubber tip and do light hiking on dirt trails. Never had a problem talking it onboard an airplane (leave the rubber tip attached). It's went through the x-ray machine multiple times with no issues.
I'm an avid hiking stick user so I think I've seen just about all of them out there. This one is pricey but all of the materials used are of the highest quality so you are getting what you pay for here. Great product for taking ANYWHERE and outstanding for anyone needing a little support (walking, hiking, post-surgery, etc.). I'm getting over a knee surgery with it now and my physical therapist is amazed at how well I walk with this pole. A+ all the way.
I ordered this online, adjusted the length, tightened the links, and the sections kept slipping into each other. I returned it ($6.00) and assuming it was defective (the package seemed to have been opened) I ordered a new cane. (There was no provision in the return form to request a replacement.) The second cane was the same as the first, slipping no matter how I tried to tighten the connection. I returned that (another $6.00) and I am a very unsatisfied customer.
Leki has been making walking sticks for as long as I can remember. They have continually evolved their designs over time. This is a fine staff, the locking system works quite well and the staff body is a solid and secure design.
Sturdy , dependable and comfortable when holding in hand
