Did surprisingly well in deep snow!
I just got these gaiters last week and broke them in on a hike this weekend. While I didn't necessarily intend for these to be used in deep snow, I encountered knee-deep snow for a mile or two and was so glad I was wearing these! My legs stayed dry, the gaiters didn't "leak" anywhere, and despite 7 miles of mud, snow, and brush, didn't see any obvious signs of poor craftsmanship or wear and tear when I took them off. I think they'll be a great all-around gaiter!

Too small around
I am giving a three as I loved the color (something different from black) and the quality was good. However no matter what size I ordered they did not fit around my calves. My calves are 16” around and with only bare legs I couldn’t get the Velcro to shut. So I know for sure they wouldn’t fit over winter weight clothing. I was very sad to have to return them.

perfect

My first pair. Used over nice boots with a rugged sole. Easy to put on. Looks great. Feels crepey but durable. Worked well in wet, cold muddy conditions.

Sizing chart does not work - big calves beware

Product itself is fine. But the sizing chart, which uses shoe size, does not work. I'm a women's size 10 1/2 and there was NOW WAY the size L/XL would fit my calves. There was a ONE INCH GAP at the widest part of the calf and the gaiters would just not close. To be honest, I laughed. Why does XL and XXL exist for men and not for women? I had to get men's size L and even then, the fit was quite snug (I also tried on men's Crocodile gaiters and couldn't even fit in size L). Here's a suggestion : make unisex gaiters (no men's and women's models) based on a size chart that uses calf circumference and not shoe size :)

Gaiter material tore

I tend to kick the inside of my right ankle/lower leg with my left foot at times when hiking. The gaiter material tore on inside of ankle within only a couple months of wear and I was still able to wear them effectively.

Fantastic Gaiters

I have used these gaiters all late fall & winter. They have performed very well in keeping my lower legs dry & the tops of my shoes dry. I usually pack them in my pack for "just in case", since they take up little room. They fit over my trail runners & boots with ease. I'm not sure if I would use them in heavy snow - would need gortex heavy duty gaiters in that case. But, for my usual hikes, these work very well.

Perfect for gaiters for day pack!

Lightweight, packable gaiters. Much more supple and packable than my previous ones.

Love them

Excellent gaiters for any time. Easy to put on and take off, durable strap underneath, strong velcro closure along the front, clip at the bottom front to connect to your laces to stay put, waterproof even for when your bushwacking in the rain and even for when I was crossing streams that would've normally drowned my feet. I sweat a lot while hiking and also find these breathe really well too. I find they are lightweight for backpacking and have used them in the winter too, although they don't provide any warmth, they keep the snow out.

Perfect for lightweight wear

The Helium Hiking Gaiters are light and packable, making them easy to throw in a pack just in case. They do a good job keeping out mud, rain, and trail debris without feeling bulky. The fabric isn’t as tough as Crocodiles, so I wouldn’t use them for mountaineering, but for wet trails and everyday hiking they’re dependable. The lightweight design does mean they can wear faster if scraped against rock, but the tradeoff in weight savings is worth it.

Lightweight gaiter for packing away

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The helium gaiter does exactly what it is intended to do; they are packable and lightweight. I have not torn the material yet, but I do not push these gaiters through brush because I think they might tear easily. They hold up well to a light rain and are very easy to put on. One tip for fit: I wear a size 8.5 US women's boot and size down to get a good fit from these gaiters if you do not have a larger circumference leg.
