Osprey  Tempest 6 Waistpack - Women's

After 7 years of daily use and service it's time to replace my steadfast friend, my Tempest 6, and nothing else will do but another just the same. My original has lost some of its structure, is irrevocably dirty, and has faded out to an unappealing color. I hate to say goodbye to it. As you can see from the photos I haven't put the new one on the trails yet, but have noticed a few changes: The front buckle is more robust, but that means it will be more difficult to tie my whistle on the ends of those straps. The carry / grab handle up top is tiny, which I don't like. The side pockets seem a little bigger, which is appreciated. I remove the Airscape panel myself, but you might like it. It's very comfortable for a four hour hike and holds everything I need: gloves, hat, sunscreen, snack, small flashlight, first aid supplies, tissues, and nothing you don't need. HIghly, highly recommend!

I bought this for a 3-day trail run next year and gave it a test run this morning on a 3.5 mile trail run - it's great. There's plenty of room in the zippered areas for cell phones, airpod case, keys, lip balm, protein bar, and a small bug spray bottle. I only used one water bottle - a 16-18 oz biking bottle - and it fit well and was secure. I was concerned the size of the pack would make running awkward but not at all. I was able to secure it so it was snug, comfortable, and wasn't shifting with every step which is an issue with my small waist pack I've used for trail runs over the last year. I have no doubt longer runs with this will be well served.

Love this hiking belt bag!! Nice to have a bag that doesn’t make you sweat, can hold two water bottles, and has a place for lunch and a rain jacket.

I asked this question below and was told no, but I'm glad I ordered it to see for myself because it fits just fine with no tugging or struggle and even a little room to spare. Everyone loves Osprey packs (my husband included) but they've never fit well for me personally. This one is an exception because its a waist pack. I took a star off because of the water bottle situation. It doesn't make sense to not have water bottle holders that either A) Have a circumference that fits a standard Nalgene bottle or B) Has elastic stabilizers that will secure a taller, narrower bottle that fits circumferentially As it stands, the Nalgene won't fit and the taller bottles can't be secured. I guess I'll have to just take out a couple small standard water bottles and that kind of sucks, but I haven't found a better alternative in waistpacks so...

I love this pack. I sometimes need to carry two water bottles and there aren't many fanny/waist packs that hold bottles at all, let alone two. The waist belt is comfortable for me and I love the hip belt pockets. I can fit snacks in those, along with other small things. Makes access really easy. The main compartment holds quite a bit. Yesterday I used it and needed a jacket early in the morning. When it warmed up and I took my jacket off I was able to roll it up and secure it under the two buckle straps and side pieces on the back of the pack. That was much nicer than tying the jacket around my waist and trying to keep it from getting in the way of accessing my water bottles. I use Takeya 18 oz Actives water bottles and they fit well in the bottle holders.

Love this (white) pack for trail running in the summer heat on longer routes. Nothing on your hot back. Holds a small hardshell, microspikes (for winter), and water. I asked Osprey, and the men's and women's packs are the same except for color and the length of the webbing in the hip belt. So go and pick your favorite color!

I own and love 3 other Osprey packs in various sizes and the Tempest 6 Waistpack did not disappoint. I bought it 10 days ago and have used it for two day trips (4-5 hours hiking each time). The hip zip pockets are fairly roomy. I put an iPhone XS Max with a Speck Presidio Sport case in one hip pocket and a fleece beanie and gloves in the other. The main compartment held snacks, binoculars, first aid kit, and toiletries. My shell and puffy jackets were securely strapped to the exterior of the pack. I would definitely recommend this pack for those who want an alternative to a sweaty back.

This lumber pack is so very comfortable for me. I have neck and spine issues that prevent me from wearing a backpack. I have tried a couple of fanny packs but nothing that performs this well and provides such comfort for long periods. It even feels great if I only carry one water bottle in it - no lopsided discomfort. I really like that I don't get too hot where the pack sits against my lower back. A bit sweaty definitely but nothing compared to a shoulder pack. The wrap around (hip) straps are very padded and the ergonomic design means that the pack doesn't bounce around even if I do! Holds so many items. The hip pockets even fit my iPhone 12 which is huge - it's so accessible now and I'm able to reach for it quickly when that photo opportunity crops up. I bought an Osprey horizontal 1.5L hydration bladder for it and use it interchangeably depending on my needs. It is not designed to use a bladder but I rigged it so easily. Really happy I found this by chance at my local REI. Definitely recommend :)

I like this daypack a lot for my short, half-day hikes. There is room for snacks, and I can hook a rain jacket over the back straps, just in case. However, the tightening strings on the water bottle pockets just get in the way of sliding bottles into them, and I finally had to cut them off. Other than that, a perfect waist pack.

Love this for short hikes! This Osprey is very comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and stays cool. The water bottle pouches are accessible while walking, and secure. The belt pouches are big enough for max sized iPhone, with finger loops for easy access. Only thing that I’d add are a couple of attachment loops for random stuff. Winner!
