Temperature ratings are intended as a guideline to help you compare products, rather than a guarantee of warmth, since many different factors contribute to your comfort while you sleep. Backpacking bags are typically rated for temperature according to an independent testing protocol—currently International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 23537, though some older items followed European Norm (EN) 13537. Testing is based on a person wearing one base layer and a pair of socks, sleeping on an insulated surface with a minimum R-value of 5.38.

Each bag then gets 2 ratings: the Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "cold sleeper" comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "warm sleeper" comfortable. Some brands determine their own temperature rating by aligning to the Comfort rating for women’s bags, to the Lower Limit rating for men’s bags, or somewhere in the middle for nongendered bags.

Disappointed

I really wanted to love this sleeping bag and was hoping it would keep me warm due to its grading, but it didn’t. Tested it out in 24 degree weather and I eventually had to layer up to keep warm. My feet are always a troublesome area, this sleeping bag could not warm up my feet. I eventually had to pull a camping quilt over them to warm up. The bag is also very restrictive when it comes to movement. I’m a petite 5’3 woman and didn’t have much space to move around in it. I’ll keep it for car camping but now I’ll have to find another for other trips as this is also heavy and bulky.

Really tight fit

I just bought this bag and I am 5’7 and about 200lbs and I don’t even fit inside the sleeping bag, could not even zip it all the way. They must make these for really skinny people. If you’re a bigger girl I would not recommend this bag. Super disappointed.

I ACTUALLY stayed warm!!

I work at a program where we run overnight trips for kiddos in foster care year round. That means no matter the temp, we're sleeping in it. I always freeze when I sleep, so I did a lot of research before buying the Lamina. This is the only bag I have ever used that has kept me. It got down to 14 degrees and I still was warm. The bag is so soft and comfortable and has enough room for me to lay on my side (which is great because I am a side sleeper). I have already convinced two of my friends to purchase this bag. Absolutely recommend if you are a cold sleeper!!

A warm, beautiful bag!

Love this bag! This was the 3rd sleeping bag bought to try to stay warm inside our tent! It did the job and how very nice it was not to wake up cold during the night! There are other great features, like the plushness of the material and a "collar" sewn into the front which keeps the cold from entering under my chin. I really love the color, also!

Nice sleeping bag, but more expensive than men's version

Was shopping for sleeping bags to discover that this bag, while a decent one, appears to be $10 more than the men's version with no obvious reason why. I suspect it's due to "extra insulation" to address women's cold spots, but when it's all polyester filling, the price difference doesn't make sense. Stick with the men's version instead.

Nice & Toasty

I used this sleeping bag during a 7 day hike on Kilimanjaro. It was the perfect bag for chilly nights and kept me nice and toasty. It's also a cool feature that the zipper is glow in the dark, which was helpful on those midnight trips to the bathroom. Definitely recommend this bag.
